It does feel like a lot of athletes are in denial as to how likely it is some governments will ban them from going.

Why do I have this funny feeling that right around the time the 2022 Olympics start, you're going to disappear completely from this site and never discuss this subject again after none of your dire predictions came to fruition.

This is another one of those posts where I can't quite tell if you're just trolling or it you really are that egregiously ignorant.

And, on the ignore list he goes. Imagine pretending to be concerned about this sort of thing then sharing a Breitbart article. I thought this guy was just oddly naive, and possibly even well meaning despite a lot of wishful thinking, but the mask has slipped.

Except that it might be a signal of the IOCs intentions should anybody boycott Beijing.

North Korea didn't attended Tokyo because COVID pandemic has caused China to divert the funds they usually give to NK into themselves to solve their own issues with the virus, so they're going through a very harsh crisis, their worse since the 90s famines (after the USSR kicked the bucket and Soviet help ended) and Kim Jong Un has decided to isolate people even more, the punishment to be exposed to even the tiniest drop of "Evil, degenerate Western influence" can also include death. Of course, their athletes are not exempt from this, so it wasn't really a political boycott. And to be honest, NK would had probably skipped Beijing 2022 as well for the same reasons.

How close we need to be until the games start, to stop speculating about an 80's like boycott in the XXIst century (DPRK aside)?, its beijing 2022, not moscow 1980

Given the trollish nature of the poster who can't stop posting in this thread, I'm guessing February 3rd.  And he'll use the "there was stills speculation less than a week before Tokyo that they might not go ahead" excuse

In terms of tensions between the west and China things are not that far of it. Particularly in terms of how the populations of the the likes of the USA think about China.

Is it your opinion? or there's actually a confidable source behind what makes you compare china-us relations to the Iron curtain division the world had in 20th century

It’s easy to tell that the majority of people in the west hate China for Covid and other issues. Polls have shown in Canada for example the majority want their country boycott the games.
