rolilau
Today Salzburg 2014 and the city-council of Bischofshofen decide, where the new K90 meters skijumping hill will be built. In the 2010 bid, the K90 hill in Ramsau am Dachstein would have been used. After criticism from the IOC, this time, the K90 will be built in Bischofshofen, where the K125 metres hill is existing. This decision is also important for another project: The "Austrian´s House" from the Torino Wintergames will be rebuilt at Bischofshofen´s jumping hills after the Games and the house. Next competition there: The traditional Final of the German-Austrian Four Hills Torunament (Jan 6th). ORF-Salzburg (German)

The new hall in Wals-Siezenheim (Icehockey) will be built directly at the EM-Stadium, the local Icehockey club "Red Bulls Salzburg" (leader in the Austrian Icehockey League) is interested in using the venue after the Olympics. As planned for 2010, in Salzburg Liefering a new multifunctional hall would be built. The Oval in Liefering is only planned temporarly. For the "Snow-competitions" only the Small Skijump has to be built or the existing K65 skijump has to be rebuilt.
polarbear
The official webpage (in German!) is: http://www.theredbulls.at/But you may not think, that it´s a worldclass team, as icehockey is not the most important sport in Austria. There was an euphorie during the Worldchampionsships in the Czech Republic, when Austria did well, and during the home-World-Championsships, but it´s not as in Canada or the USA. Hi again rolilau! You told me about the RedBull hockey team WAAAAYYY back in September. I thought I'd see how they were doing this season, and I just pulled up their website. They are doing GREAT !!!! http://www.theredbulls.at/news.php4 Does the soccer team there also have the same name as the hockey team?
rolilau
Yes, the soccer team is also sponsered by Red Bull since this season - as Red Bull is one of the biggest sport sponsors in Salzburg, it´s just a question of time, when the EM-Stadium will be called Red Bull Arena. Red Bull Salzburg (soccer) Both, the ice hockey team and the soccer team are doing very well. The soccer team is on the way to a Champions League place again, after years. rolilau
By the way, the Austrian Ice Hockey League ended today. Salzburg reached the Final after beating the Vienna Capitals 4:1 (in the best of seven series) in the semi finals. Today, Villach made the 4th win against Salzburg in the Finals and is new Austrian Champion (for the 6th time) after winning the best of seven series 4:2. After a strong season Salzburg finished as second.

rolilau
The Alpine venue of Altenmarkt-Zauchensee organizes two World-Class competitions in the next year. From Feb 12th to 14th three Women´s World Cup Races (Downhill/Slalom/SuperCombination) will take place, like the did in many years before, also. According to Salzburger Nachrichten The Alpine Youth World Championsships will take place at the time, when the IOC evaluation commision is in Salzburg (Feb 22th to Mar 3rd) in Altenmarkt/Zauchensee and Flachau and the whole Alpine programm can be tested, as it would be at the Olympics. So, the IOC commission can not only see the venue, but also the organisation in the Alpine towns.
rolilau
From June 17th on the region of Salzburg and Berchtesgadener Land make a new progress in the cooperation. The Suburbain Railway Line S3 is enlarged from Salzburg via Freilassing to Berchtesgaden (only a few kilometres from Schönau/Königssee). After the S3 to the south from the city of Salzburg is already working, the part to the west will start in June. A new station will be opened at Salzburg´s shopping center "Europark". Three more stations are planned until 2009 in the city of Salzburg. With this first step, Berchtesgadener Land is directly connected with the city of Salzburg and the southern areas of Salzburg - including the wintersportsregion of Pongau with Bischofshofen and St.Johann. The project shows that an innovative train traffic is possible in Salzburg - and it also shows the criticians, that Berchtesgadener Land and Salzburg are connected very well. There´s no border in between that should make Olympic competitions in Schönau/Königssee a weak point of the bid. And it lets hope, that a good traffic concept is possible for the Euro 2008 and Olympic Games.
rolilau
The second Ice hockey venue could be built in Puch-Urstein, just a few kilometres south of the city of Salzburg, instead of Wals-Siezenheim. The infrastructural situation there is perfect - Puch-Urstein is directly connected to A10 Motorway and to S3 Rapid Train Service. Last autumn, the University of Applied Sciences "FH Salzburg" was opened there. Red Bull is interested in using the new ice-stadium for Salzburg´s Icehockey club after the games - maybe also before the games, if it is ready. rolilau
In only 8 days, the EM-Stadium Wals Siezenheim - planned venue for the opening and closing ceremony - is place for international football-matches. Last Wednesday the local soccer-club Red Bull Salzburg won against Zurich and reached the third qualification round for the European Champions League. Next Wednesday the players of Valencia will be the guests. For the traffic-plannings, this time the new suburbain railway station near of the stadium was tested first time. Many fans used this possibility and the parking situation was better. The concept will become even better and the EM-Stadium is ready for bigger events. The Stadium gets enlarged for the EURO 08 at the moment.
rolilau
After the big banners at Salzburg Airport and at the Power Station Salzburg Nord directly at the A1 Highway banners were set in place at the venues of the Pongau-"Snow region" and at Schönau am Königssee. These branding boards should show the population and the tourists as well that the are in a planned venue for Salzburg 2014. The boards look as follows:
