Sir Rols
Chill out, zeneca! Have some alchohol, a good lie down, maybe pop a valium or something. Just calm down! We've got two years or so of this race to go, and if you continue panicking that Salzburg doesn't have a major announcement to make each day, you're going to get ulcers very, very quick. zenica
I would calm down when seeing that Salzburg is really doing something for their bid as most of the other candidates are working on it since a very long time. That´s what makes me nervous. That is the last and only chance for Salzburg. A next one most of the people actually living today won´t see. It´s idiotic to gamble away this chance. The way to success follows a very thin line which Salzburg has to meet, into the heart of the IOC executive members. That´s the only thing that´s really important. When being successfull the Champagne will flow through Salzburg. But let´s see ...
zenica
Would have been nice to have Winter Games and a big party with Mozart and Champagne here in Salzburg 2014 .... When they would get it
zenica
Finally there happens something on thr web-site of the bid committee after nearly 4 monthes of agony. This is highly appreciated and let´s hope this will continue. They are acting like they are ashamed and now start to come out of their hidden place. I think these people need a lot of support to fulfill the expectations of public and government to bring the Games to Salzburg. Under the leadership of city mayor Schaden they have to get the Games 2014 in Salzburg. This is a very difficult job as there are a lot of knowledge, experience, wishes etc to bring together to get on the winning track. This will be very, very hard - but not impossible. Sir Rols
Finally there happens something on thr web-site of the bid committee after nearly 4 monthes of agony. Agony for who? I've been quite relaxed and comfortable.
zenica
Salzburg also has to keep in mind what UNEP says about water, air and noice pollution. This is also what EU commissions want for big sport events. So all programs has to fit to meet the reglements. This should also be considered by the Organisation committee. These are three very important areas in human live and can´t be negociated.
zenica
For a successfull bid and race there is missing a right budget. The capital of the organisation company is about 2 million Euro plus 1 million from the government. There is missing an amount of about 5 million to do a good job, to win the bid they may need about 7 to 8 million Euro. With the right budget there is the power to bring Salzburg on top to win the bid. One may ask if the money is enough? Now they have a new managing director, Mr. Anton Schutti. Let´s have a look what the next time brings.
zenica
the next host city of the Winter games 2014, but only with an excellent preparation:
zenica
As IOC has stated today no host city will win if basic environmental requirements like clean air, clean water etc are not fulfilled to the satisfaction of IOC. This is one issue that counts besides the other projects which have to be done properly.
zenica
There is also important for the bid of Salzburg 2014: next year Salzburg is celebrating the 250th anniversary of Mozart. This should use Salzburgs OC to show the world that it´s a very cultural city which combines both: sport and culture. This is a big advantage which have only a few cities in world. This chance should Salzburg use.
zenica
Another hard and long winter is beginning where Salzburg has to work hard to set the base for a successfull bid for the Winter Games 2014 in Salzburg. There is a lot to do but there is the question which special programs they have to do to convince IOC. The next year is the most important one, the next winter there is only time for finesse. So it´s important that everything is working well and is prepared properly not to have a negative surprise like it was for 2006 and 2010. 95% is work and perfect projects that will bring Salzburg on top, 5% is luck plus good connections. So we hope the responsible people there, after to failures, will keep in mind that Salzburg only has a chance with some special project work and not with thousands of contacts, which didn´t bring any results up to now. And don´t forget the luck, only a few percents are necessary. A winterly Xmas in Salzburg - the "future" host city of OG 2014

rolilau
Schladming is not part of the Olympic bid! And by the way, a good winter is starting - After the first snowfalls in the last days, Flachau wants to open the winter-saison in the next weeks. Another news from the Olympic region: The town of Bischofshofen (skijumping) wants to buy the Austrian´s house of the Olympic Wintergames in Torino and to rebuilt it at the skijump. It should be used for exhibitions, and also for promotion for the 2014 bid. And a poll showed that 73% of the Austrians want to have the Olympic Games in Salzburg. zenica
It´s clear that Schladming is not part of the Olympic bid. All I wanted is to show the region of Salzburg, the attractivity of the whole region where all towns could be possible bid cities.

torch-d
Yesterday I got a letter from the bid committee, saying that the applicant city logo will be released at the end of the year. But they did not give any hints about the logo.
zenica
The logo is not one of the important things, all other projects and the homework from IOC will decide who wins the race for Winter Olympics 2014. Logo doesn´t win the bid, it´s important for the presence of the bid committee. Important is what happens next 20 monthes, which projects the will set up and bring to an end to possibly win the bid. Logo is something nice to have - not more.
zenica
In December the official bid company Salzburg 2014 starts its business. Then we will get more information about the planned projects in next future. This is a first and serious step to get into right direction for the third try of Salzburg. zenica
For Salzburg´s bid for 2014 there is a special security program possible where everything is covered and where the costs are lower than usual for OG´s. Athens 2004 and Torino 2006 have spent a lot of money for security. But in future budget and expenses have to decrease. With the right program there will be a solution. zenica
The bid committee of Salzburg has to work very fast as the promotion for Torino is early in February. These is an scheduled work which all other candidates will do - nothing to get on top. Other projects are more important. Next year there is Mozart-year, a so called century-event - a good chance to get a lot of points for Salzburg. Other projects will bring more points for the final decision of IOC for Winter Games 2014. The usual programs are necessary, they have to do them but these is not the thing that makes the decision. zenica
It is expected that there is a huge revenue of the Winter Games 2014 (EC Switzerland/Austria about 432 million Euro - the second greatest sport event after WC and 200 million Euro tourism). I.E. the rowing WC had about 7 million Euro, the skiing on Lauberhorn had about 4.5 million Euro. Compared to those "small" events the revenue could be gigantic. These is possible only when Salzburg wins the bid for 2014.
zenica
Thousand of ski-fans started skiing round Salzburg because of the excellent snow. That´s much more than last year. 10.000 use the perfect prepared tracks, 2000 people more than last year. They come from a distance of about 200 km. Much of them are from neighbourhood countries. Ski-lifts were counting more than 6.000 drives, nearly double compared to last year. There is a great demand for season cards. They already earned more than 150.000 Euro. Snow hight is about 70 to 100 cm, which is perfect. Only on weekend there were about 6.000 skiiers. This is an enormous potential for Salzburg´s bid for 2014. The chances for tourism, economy and other areas of public life Salzburg should not pass by. They should try to get the Games. To let this go to another country is not acceptable for Salzburg. This will bring more money, jobs etc into this region. People should not forget that they failed twice.
