Our countries may be India & Mexico, but we're going for a traditionally Russian start - live from...SPACE!

Yes we are going scientific as GamesBids members say...Thanks Tim, in the place where the World Wide Web was born - no, not Al Gore's shed, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research - CERN, to give it its easier name:

We are on this most neutral of all neutral ground to decide which logos will go forward to the proper voting rounds in this Mumbai/Mexico comp. Like the subatomic particles that hurtle beneath our feet, 10 logos will go in, collide, & at the end some will go forward & some will get annihilated. Shortlisting rules are subtly different to normal, so please read carefully:

  • This voting round will be open for (approximately) 48 hours - it will close at 9pm UK time, Thursday January 10.
  • If one entry somehow has an absolute majority here, it will be declared the winner.
  • Vote in the poll for your favourite logos. You will notice this is a multiple-choice poll - you may give up to FIVE votes, so make them count.
  • Your votes are public and can be seen by all.
  • Entrants MAY vote for their own logo if they wish. For transparency, I will not vote unless required to break a tie.
  • Votes are valid if cast by members of GamesBids as of January 1 2019 with a bona fide posting record.
  • I will rule on the validity of any suspicious or disputed votes, or who constitutes a bona fide voting member.
  • I will not vote in this, or any subsequent rounds. However, if a tie-breaker vote is needed, I will reserve my right to vote in order to break it.
  • My intention is that the 5 logos that obtain the most votes will proceed to the main voting rounds. However, I do reserve the ability to amend this depending on how the vote goes - for example if there's a big gap between 4th & 5th, the top 4 can go forward. if 5th-6th is tied & there's a gap between 6th & 7th, I'll put the 6 through.
  • Be fair and sportsmanlike, this is meant to be fun and the entrants all deserve RESPECT.

And so, this is the time to vote. When this is done, we shall begin Round 1 proper in the country of the winning logo from this round. In the meantime, thank you to all our entrants for putting their designs in the spotlight, & may the best logo win!

GOOD LUCK! :)

Lots of entries on the line!

Another thing, though -- it seems that there is no function that would limit the selection of the entries in the voting up to strictly five. One could get away with voting at least six without reading the rules. Is there or has there been anything to address this? Just something to watch out for, not exactly a big deal...

There is no mechanism to stop this, you’re right. However, if someone does (which hasn’t happened yet) all their votes will be discounted. I’m watching the scoreboard, so is Rols & I’m sure some of the players are monitoring it too, so if it does happen, we’ll catch it :)
