baron-pierreIV
But the Philippine Olympic Committee is in utter chaos. How can they get anything organized??
Ikarus360
Games are nearing their begin and almost everything is ready. However as it seems to be typical, they're rushing at last minute to finish details. New Clark City venues such as the main stadium for the athletics and swiming events are fully ready now. But others like Rizal Memorial Coliseum renovation works are still in proccess. The new stadium looks infinitely better than the decrepit old Rizal stadium in Manila. Also I appreciate they didn't went overkill with its capacity considering the Kuala Lumpur stadium was often empty at the last SEA Games. While the logo is terrible, the branding is actually interesting and puts focus on a sport theme rather than the culture of the country https://www.mattnisbet.com/seagames2019 Torch and medals (Torch is based on the philippine national flower, Sanpaguita) Opening Ceremony will be produced by Fivecurrents, which is already known by most of you for many of their previous works (Salt Lake 2002 ceremonies, Sochi 2014 closing, the 2007 and 2011 Pan Am games, Jakarta Palembang 2018 ceremonies, etc). They will hold it on the Philippine Arena instead of a conventional stadium though, so it will be interesting to see how they pull it out in such a small stage. Stage is being set at the moment. Ikarus360
Very small, concert-type opening ceremony, but overall actually decent. The letdown was the fact the lightning of the cauldron happened in a different place (New Clark City) and it seems to have been prerecorded days before the opening ceremony. blueview2
hi guys, blueview here coming back from the grave. The ceremonies were decent enough, getting to and from the venue Philippine Arena is a pain. The venue plan was scattered again like in 2005. I wen there with another GB forumer, bong, whom I worked on the fantasy expo bid Manila 2020 some time back. Bong actually worked with the "looks" team, and from what he says, the organization was chaotic to put it mildly. Ceremonies needed 3dmapping, such a wasted opportunity. the stadium was only 2/3 full. the lighting was a downer, how we wished that there was an actual cauldron outside the arena when we exited after but there was none. The closing ceremonies is just blah.
