At least we get to see how close the vote is between the people of canada and see how close this thing was.

My guess.. not close at all.  It's becoming increasingly clear most of the citizens of Calgary want nothing to do with this.  Not helping the cause is what seems to be a great deal of mismanagement.  It's doomed.

Makes you wonder if this could have worked had the organization not been so poorly managed.  Guess we'll never know.  They could have handled a 'no' majority in their non-binding plebiscite if it was close.  This probably won't be close, so that will likely be the death knell for the bid.  And for better or worse, good for the citizens of Calgary that they'll have seen what a mess this is before they weigh in.

I remember watching one of those Calgary council meeting videos about a month ago, & I remember a certain constituent commenting on that very thing. That 2026 seems too rushed & that perhaps 2030 would’ve been a better approach, at least in terms of figuring all of the numbers & finalizing the plans. But now after this sh!t show of theirs, this will more than likely leave a bitter aftertaste for Calgary to even consider another winter bid, at least in the near-term.

The bid management has been a total disaster. Calgary can host a fantastic Olympics....the city is FAR more than capable.......it is a naturally fantastic city with EVERYTHING a true winter city could offer a Winter Olympics Games but fools have complicated the process and brought shame that will linger for years.

Perhaps Calgary looked ahead to what they perceived could have been a busier field of bidders (most notably including a USOC entry they 'd have to compete with) come 2030 and wanted to jump in ahead of that competition to face what looked to be less competition.  Needless to say, it did not work out for them.  And now, Calgary is probably scorched Earth so far as a future Olympic bid is concerned for a long time to come.
