Sir Rols
For World Cup 2006 the ministry has strengthen the rules for the male and female policemen: no piercings, no tatoo (visible), no pigtails, decent jewelry, no three-day-beard, only one ear-ring, a regular hearcut. This seems to be important. The rules are for about 30,000 people. Silly, if you ask me. Okay, so a dread-locked, lip-pierced, tattooed policeman might look a bit odd, but if that's their thing _ well, it's all just personal adornment and shouldn't affect the way they do their job. Except they have to keep disabling the metal detectors because of all those rings and metal attachments, on their own security people. I want spic-and-span security people. I would have no respect for, as z said:"...no piercings, no tatoo (visible), no pigtails, decent jewelry, no three-day-beard, only one ear-ring, a regular hearcut." baron-pierreIV
to top the last news from police: FIFA president Blatter said, that during World Cup 2006 all spectators have to be controlled in detail regarding terrorism. Have a lot of fun ... what he means is that the German Organizing Committee will brook no violence or attempts at violence either in the venues or in the host cities. With the events in France and Belgium over the fall, I think Germany will keep a strong hand on any disruptions of normal life, inside or outside the stadia. zenica
In general the critical spectators, mostly only a very few, will be under special observation of the police. How they want to prevent terroristic actions - I don´t know.
zenica
Italy´s government is angry that the torch run in Italy was stopped several times by demonstrators. It´s a shame that this happened 32 times said one of the government. They also affraid that the opening ceremony will also be disturbed. The demonstrators are agains the IOC sponsor Coca Cola because of violation of human rights of the CocaCola trust. There is also still a discussion regarding the anti-doping laws. IOC thinks this has to e handled by the sport organisations where the government says it´s there turn.
baron-pierreIV
Demonstrators all over the world, Olympics or not, should be shot (at least in the knees) -- like Kent State, Mexico City and Tienamen Square. This will be the most secured WC ever, at least that is what the germans promise, but its a challenge for every country, even for Germany to handle the security, especially with sooooo many spectators
zenica
Torino in afew weeks will be the first in the row of the big event during the next years. zenica
Italy spent 90 million Euro so far for security during OG in Torino. They rejected an offer from NATO but accepted an aircraft to patrol the no-fly zone between Torino and the French border. Everything should have been done regarding security during the Winter Games in Torino which start 10. February until 26 February.

zenica
during a session in Barcelona UEFA is asking for a stronger punishment for rassism in sport. There should be zero-tolerance for rassism. This has to be eliminated from all venues and stadiums in the world.
arwebb
Goes without saying. It would just be nice if the authorities actually backed up all their fine words with meaningful actions.
zenica
agreed. Authorities have to do something and not only talking about it. rassism and vandalism should have nothing to do with sport
zenica
IOC also has to look for the youth, the coaches etc. A lot of the athlets are amateurs, only a few are professionals like Tiger Woods etc. IOC has to develop social programs for athlets from the poor countríes and not support only the rich. A good example is Bill Gates how spends 100 million dollars for social programs. A bad example is Ingvar Kamprad (owner IKEA) who lives in Switzerland and never spend a cent for any social event. There are a lot of other examples. When looking at Sochi why they don´t spend the money for hospitals, roads, social buildings etc. This is not in accordance with Olympic Ghost. IOC has to investigate in this. When spending money only for luxury in a country where 100 million people need help this should not be supported. zenica
in future there has to be more and more preventio against doping. As we can see from Torino WADA is on the right way. Punishment should be harder for tose people
