zenica
He already was caught in prior years. Some people never learn. I think this is the only way to get these people out of sport. How many chances do you want to give to these people? It´s the question how tolerant you want to be. Do we want clean sport or "criminal" sport? I think this is the right sign. Italy is actually going the right way.
arwebb
When did he get caught the first time? If he has been done more than once, we should be talking life bans. At least tennis seems to be getting tough on drugs. Maybe other sports should learn then. Track and field athletics and football spring to mind. zenica
It was only a few years ago. I agree, other sports should learn. When looking on the muscles of some women athlets I can´t believe these are from training only.

zenica
In past and also today. Haver a look at several women athlets. I.e. is it normal that in tennis the service of a women has nearly the same speed (200km/h) as mens? and so on ...
arwebb
Seeing as the fastest male serve is nearer to 250 kmh, the women have got a bit of a way to go yet.
zenica
I think it´s normal for a well trained woman to reach a speed of max. 180 km/h. Men have about 210 km/h. More and more people are over this border. This is the same as in 100 meters, when running a time of 9 secs (men). With doping everything seems to be possible, without doping there remains a borderline.
arwebb
Sub-10 seconds for 100 metres is the borderline for world class. We do't know what doping makes possible because we don't know who, if ay, are on it. That is not to say nobody does it, just that we mere punters have no clue. zenica
Some people in the past, i.e. Ben Johnson, gave us an idea what is possible with doping. The major question is not what someone can reach, the question is doping or not doping.

baron-pierreIV
9,000 agents will save the OG´s in Torino 2006 against terrorism. Zen, shouldn't you maybe post the positions of these '9,000' agents so the terrorists will know where they're at? I mean, terrorists could be lurking on this board, yaknow. (Well, DJ Bungi for one...) :suspect:
zenica
I think the 9,000 agents are ok for the security in Torino to prevent actions like in Madrid or London. People should feel save and trust in the security of the organisators. There are also a lot of young people and children there.
zenica
the German minister which is responsible for security also wants to have military help (special squad) during WC 2006. There job would be to prevent terroristic attacks in coordination with regular police.

zenica
The World Cup stadiums are actually tested by "Stiftung Warentest", a German independent testing institute with monthly press releases. The results will be presented 19th January. Let´s see what they found.
zenica
The new study of "Stiftung Warentest" in Germany has shown a lot of deficites for the World Cup stadium. The stadiums in Berlin, Leipzig, Gelsenkirchen and Kaiserslautern have the biggest problems. A lot of the other stadiums have big problems in case of emergency, fire etc. This is something that the OC should also know and should try to repair. This is a big image problem for the organisation commitee of World Cup 2006. The accidents in the last period of time indicated that there were greater problems. It´s up to the OC to do their best to get this done until the first match begins in June 2006.
zenica
FIFA cancelled the opening ceremony in Berlin bcause of damages for the lawn. The lawn will not recover for the first match. The opening ceremony should cost about 25 million Euro.

zenica
The cancellation must be totally depressing for the OC as they have spent a lot of time and money in this event. I think it was too late to stop this event. No it´s really difficult to find another location. I´m not sure if the lawn is really the reason for the cancellation ... zenica
For World Cup 2006 the ministry has strengthen the rules for the male and female policemen: no piercings, no tatoo (visible), no pigtails, decent jewelry, no three-day-beard, only one ear-ring, a regular hearcut. This seems to be important. The rules are for about 30,000 people.
