Olympian2004 511
I don't think it's very helpful to keep the athletes seated if you want to create the party atmosphere that is usually part of a closing ceremony. And from that audience, you can't expect any kind of party atmosphere. I thought that Exo is very popular in Korea? I couldn't verify that with the (non-)reaction of the audience. hektor 87
Bit of trivia: coubertin says in his souvenirs that at the opening ceremony of Athens 1896, the crowd liked the Olympic anthem so much that they played it a second time.
SkiFreak 123
I wish the organizing committees could provide the ceremonies performance program on their website, with a full song and artist listing.
zigzag 40
The reaction is kinda weird.. It's more like a North Korean concert rather than the south with this kind of silence..
SkiFreak 123
What was the name of this EXO song?

True. Only Torino and London did that so far, and it's particularly helpful in lesser known host countries which have lots of complicated names or stories that you don't know yet. It helps to re-read that after the ceremony.
zigzag 40
Fireworks already?? That's strange..
Ikarus360 605
The kids from the Opening. Yup, definitely the extinction of the flame.

yoshi 353
Yimou goes techno! Also, sentient televisions are coming to take over the world. Pretty, even if its just a take on Tokyo. Still nice to see what handovers can be if given proper space - IOC must've acted after our non-entity in 2008.

JMarkSnow2012 387
Once again, that ramp worked well to connect the stadium with the exterior cauldron

yoshi 353
Those pandas might be the freakiest/cringiest thing ever seen in a handover though. The eyes! Also, Xi Jinping is no super Mario.
Olympian2004 511
That was a pretty nice extinguishing segment. I think it's always important to make it emotional. This was the case this time, although it sometimes bordered kitsch.
