Olympian2004 511
And finally some atmosphere in the stadium - the athletes and even the children from the opening ceremony dancing away.
SkiFreak 123
Wow. No Gangnam style?
JMarkSnow2012 387
Freaky bird-man !!!!
zigzag 40
I think we can say that Dj is the new trend for closing ceremonies..
Ikarus360 602
Birdman, aka the true protagonist of the Opening ceremony, reappears
Olympian2004 511
Aaaaahhh, Soohorang dancing with the athletes. How cute! I will miss that little chap. And this concludes the closing ceremony. It was a nice one, but nothing special - which is typical for Olympic closing ceremonies. ;-)
Ikarus360 602
Adios, Pyeongchang. I'm missing you already.
Olympian2004 511
The German presenter mentions that the ceremony was scheduled to conclude at 10:03 pm local time - and it concluded at exactly 10:03 pm. That shows once again that Koreans are very good organisers.
zigzag 40
Thanks for the Olympics, Pyeongchang!! I'll see you again in the Paralympics!!
JMarkSnow2012 387
No roof means no fireworks round the stadium itself
SkiFreak 123
Goodbye PyeongChang! Can now reset my sleep, and focus back on job hunting. However, CBC will be airing recaps all the way into primetime today. Want to still watch the figure skating gala. They just ended the Canadian broadcast with Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue. Gonna miss those guys.
Ikarus360 602
The fireworks weren't bad though. I initially was weirded out but they had some kind of 90's-retro feel while still being somewhat spectacular. And to be fair some fireworks moments of Rio 2016 were too overkill (specially the one after the cauldron lightning....dear god, I remember the video feed looked like the stadium literally was engulfed in flames)
SkiFreak 123
I still hope one day the Paralympics could be held before the Olympics. They feel like an after thought and it feels like the Paralympians don't get the exposure they deserve.
Ikarus360 602
Claro just showed up the Tokyo 2020 bid presentation. They can't wait for it, huh?
thatsnotmypuppy 559
That was... nice. CL was great, EXO not so much. Way too much Bach and Beijing 2022's handover was a bit predictable. A solid end to a solid Games.
Ikarus360 602
Welp. That Youku video was taken down quickly. It seems the IOC took notes from Chinese censorship skills to do the same thing in Youtube. Any new link to rewatch the handover would be appreciated.

I would support that, especially the Winter Paralympics still feel a lot like an afterthought while the Summer Paralympics have evolved a bit to Games "in their own right" since London 2012. UK Channel 4 treats the Olys as a warm-up, and promotes the Paras BIGTIME in the gap between Games.
SkiFreak 123
If anyone is in Calgary, the Tower Olympic Cauldron will be lit one last time tonight from 6-7pm for these games. Then of course for Tokyo in a couple years.
Olympian2004 511
For @SkiFreak and everybody else who is interested: Here are the official guides of Torino 2006 (for its Olympic opening ceremony only) and of London 2012 (for its Olympic and Paralympic opening and closing ceremonies). There are three Torino files, though: One with the opening ceremony guide, one with additional information about the opening ceremony performers (I believe that was for all the segments that they wanted to keep secret until the ceremony) and one with the marching order and all flagbearers in the parade of nations. Those files have German names, but you'll figure out quickly which file is which. https://files.fm/u/zqd9x7gz#_

Exactly. Would be cool if the Paralympians marched into the stadium with the Olympians in one ceremony, but that would be a logistics nightmare.

Ikarus360 602
He might not be Super Mario but we're most likely going to see him again in 2022. They want to extend his ruling term. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-43188739
