2018 promotional items in Canada?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone seen any promotional items/collectibles in Canada? i.e. drinking glasses from Petro Canada, pins, etc. McDonald's bailed so nothing there. I haven't been to the main HBC store downtown yet to check out what they have. Went to Bay in Kelowna in December but didn't see any pins. Anything out there?

So far I just have the two mascot pins I got from the PyeongChang 2018 stand at the Stampede last July.

It has been very difficult to find any officially licensed PyeongChang merchandise outside of South Korea. The only thing that I have been able to get so far is a flag that I got off of Ali Express two years ago. It's probably a Chinese knock-off, which is interesting that the stuff disappeared from the site once Alibaba became an Olympic sponsor.  eBay and Amazon have knockoff T-shirts and some legit stuff like pins and toy mascots, but that's about it. I've checked the online shops for the US, Canada, and GB Olympic teams...nothing. NBC, nothing except for stuff with their logo which means nothing to me.

Kinda a disappointment during these games. Petro Canada has nothing, but you can win pins thru their Facebook page. HBC has no pins. What's going on?!? why the lack of collectibles? Petro Canada at least had glass mugs for Sochi and pins for Rio.

CBC has:

  • Pins: two designs. The one design comes in different color variants (red, white, black, etc)
  • Google Cardboard VR glasses - works with their Olympics VR app. It's wrapped up with a nice glossy broadcast schedule.

Does Canadian Tire have any pins? Like those red maple leaf "We all play for Canada" pins that were available in 2014?

I'm gonna hit up a Value Village this afternoon. I'm on the hunt for 80s wear or Calgary 88 gear. Winsport is throwing a Calgary '88 30th anniversary party on Feb 23 at Olympic Park (it's free if anyone wants to go - free food, complimentary drink, etc) and dress code is 80s, Calgary 88 gear, or business casual. All I got to wear from 88 is a red Calgary 88 ball cap. Gonna maybe mix in some Vancouver 2010 gear, wear my Team Canada hockey jersey and put my pin trading lanyard around my neck. B)

In 2014 all head quarters employees got Sochi pins.

In 2016 they were giving out Rio pins as prizes, but there were a lot of prizes. I kept on winning them and had to spread the wealth :-) We also got 2016 t-shirts.

So far nothing for PC except the scarf.

It has been a little spares this year. Wasn't there a coupon in the newspaper for attaining one set of pins at a news station. And there was a cool set from Canadian tire that came out half way through. Even the fan site has been low. Just a lot less this year. I'm watching all their Facebook sites, but US is low also.

The Canadian Tire I went to had nothing. Not even Canadian Olympic Committee hockey pucks, which they had 4 years ago.
