This guy recorded this enchanting video with some surrounding music. Could that music be used in a segment for the Opening Ceremony? If so, I'm guessing this lovely and enchanting piece of music would be used for a Traditional segment (since the OC will show a mix of both Traditional and Modern Korea).

Look what I found:

It's the practice hall where the performers have been practising for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. It was at Kintex Korea (Korea International Exhibition Center) in Goyang (just Northwest of Seoul). The lines in the round stage could be a clue for the Artistic Segment of both the OC & CC.

I could be wrong. The music could also be used for a modern or technology segment showcasing the evolution of Modern Korea in the past 30 years.

Music sounds very dramatic/peaceful to be for a modern/technology segment. I think this might be either Dove of Peace or some of the earlier segments of the show. Also looks like it snowed heavily last night. While I would love to see snow add to the winter feel, I really hope strong winds are absent. There were already talks of moving the Opening to the Ice Hockey arena or something if the weather was too unbearable to work.

Seems on this very short vid they put something at the left of the main staircase, but its hard to see.

The article says Jeon Ink Won was also confirmed to perform at the Opening Ceremony. He is known as the lead singer of the folk group Deulgookhwa. I can't find this confirmed in another source though so i'm not sure about its credibility.

For what I could translate from this article, since the decision of North Korea participation came up very late, they said they didn't planned to make changes to the ceremony, beside the fact both Koreas will march as an unified team as Arirang will be played, since the rehearsals are already being made. There was a proposal to make the NK Taekwondo team perform at the opening supposedly, but they mentioned they haven't hear of said proposal yet. Also, it seems that the South Korean flag and anthem will be raised as part of the protocol, since it is the host nation. 

One more thing. Since the stage has a pentagram shape, the director apparently says it both fits with both the Five olympic rings and the Ying Yang Five Line Thought (which I guess its the traditional 5 elements on eastern belief)

It could also be translated as the Five Constants of Confucianism (Confucianism was the dominant religion during the Joseon era).

They have also released a promotional video instructing the recommended type of clothing to wear at the Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony will feature five children as the main roles (a la Sydney 2000, Sochi 2014) who will travel through time from "ancient mythological blends between people and nature" to the future "where Artificial Intelligence and utilising 5G technology will come into place" (there will definitely be drones present at OC). The purpose of the time-travel from Traditional Korea to Modern Korea is to "search for peace on the Korean Peninsula", hence why the theme for the OC is titled "Peace in Motion". Song Seung Hwan describes it as a "Winter Fairy Tale" and funny enough, it is a fairy tale. XD

Ok, this is a big spoiler, everybody. 

It seems the element which will connect the segments of the show, called "Peace in Motion" will be five kids, each one representing the five olympic rings, who will travel through Korea's history since ancient times to the present time, as they overcome trials in order to create a journey to a peaceful future.

I think this is gonna be a wonderful artistic segment and I wonder if the kids will all be Korean or from different continents? The way how they will put this artistic segment together seems amazing. In the words of McDonald's (Olympic Sponsor), "I'm lovin' it"

While using kids as an element which connects the segments of a show has been done already in other ceremonies (Sydney 2000, Sochi 2014 (to a certain extent) and Doha 2006), this time seems to be an interesting take. If the kids are supposed to be the 5 continents I kind of hope they do come from the respective continent they represent.

That'd be very interesting indeed. If they are, this could be a reference to Hallyu (globalisation of Korea to the world)

So the drone bit would be at the end...does that mean they're not gonna form the rings? Also, how do you have a performance involving a mobile communication standard? And they're very much the anti-London when it comes to the flame - do they wanna show it off as much as possible?

I used Bing Translator to translate an article. I believe that when they say 5G, they probably meant a "next generation" technology where you have phones, fast internet speeds and other show-stopping technology.

You never know. It's nore than likely that they might want the drones to form the Olympic Rings but we don't know yet. But the directors are trying their best to keep it secret.

So i just saw this on 'Auslandsjournal' on German Television ZDF - -  they talk about a roboter being involved somehow carrying the flame during the O.C. - - -

OK  i just googled more about the Robot - 

they allready used it during the torch relay #falsealarm

Yeah, I was going to say that. They already used the robot during the Torch Relay. I even posted pics of it on December. What is true, though, is they want to display hi-tech during the last part of the show to represent how Korea has evolved so far since the Han River Miracle.

Anyway. According to this article, the five kids who will be the protagonists of the Opening Ceremony will all be from the Gangwon province. Apparently the use of kids was done as an answer to the Seoul 1988 hoop boy (apparently it seems that was the scene of that opening ceremony which is remembered most fondly for many Koreans).

Also, it seems a Korean Bell will be used to signalize the beggining of the Opening (it mentions the word "  한국의 종소리가 " which is for "korean bell" when it talks about the beggining of the show), for what I could translate here (from the official website)

A korean bell was used to signalize the beggining of the 1988 Olympics closing ceremony. I believe they also depicted a large "peace bell" at the opening ceremony of the 2002 World Cup. If they do this it would be reminiscing of Nagano's opening with the Zenkoji temple bell.
