The Tower Bridge Fox
So much as I admire Steve Cram ( canny geordie lad) Should he be doing the commentary for the curling again, after being so rude about our brillient silver medel winning men's curling team, I come from Newcastle so I can say I wish Newcastle united was as good as our men's curling team. sorry if people not from the UK dont know what Im talking about. Faster
Not sure how well the Brits are going to do. A new team on the men's side and the wildly inconsistent Muirhead on the women's.
The Tower Bridge Fox
I was disappointed when I read that David Murdochs team wouldn't be there, I would like to have seen them thrash Canada Maybe the new team will oblige. The Tower Bridge Fox
Im fully aware that Canada are expected to win, but it wouldn't be the Olympics without surprise results.
4seasonscentre
Great to see a packed and enthusiastic curling venue, even before the OC!
Faster
Packed? There were a lot of empty seats.
thatsnotmypuppy
Lots of locals though - I can't imagine preliminary round curling is getting the sponsors/Olympic Family excited - so there will always be a large amount of empty seats. Faster
I am sure those locals are there the same way there were locals in Nagano. Free tickets.

Faster
On to actual curling news. Canada, Norway and Russia are tied at 4-1. World Champions Switzerland are struggling a bit.
4seasonscentre
Fascinated by Team USA in mixed doubles. Gave up a perfect end to the Swiss. Then somehow managed to beat Norway, included one end where they stole 4 points.

The Tower Bridge Fox
Well the Curling is absolutely fantastic!!!! Both British teams doing well!!! and the Men's team seems to be rising to the challenge!!! and yes Stephen Steve Cram CBE British retired track and field athlete. 1500 m gold medal 1983 World Championships and the 1500 m silver medal at the 1984 Olympic Games. is doimg some of the commentary but I feel he now gives way more to the professional culler's
4seasonscentre
Canadian Men undefeated. Canadian Women with no wins. Is it fair to be nervous??
4seasonscentre
I just saw something I didn't like in the fifth end of DEN versus CAN. Canada was trailing and making several misses. One of the Danes burnt a rock just a tiny bit. Rachel Homan removed it from play to the visible disappointment of the Danish skip. I am not a curling expert but the Canadian commentators cautiously disagreed with Homan's decision. I thought she took advantage of an honest and immaterial mistake while frustrated with poor performance.

It was Homan's right and the traditionalist in Canadian curling don't like Homan to begin with. If Homan does poorly and does not medal the blame will be solely at the feet of Curling Canada by not allowing the teams to bring their own coach and their own 5th. Should she have done it? Probably not. I'm supporting (Eve) Muirhead in Women's tournament now!
baron-pierreIV
Curling -- how did they dream of creating 42-lbs implements? I can't get those delivered to my doorstep by an amazon drone!!
4seasonscentre
Hogline Controversy In Draw 7's game between GB and Sweden on Sunday, Muirhead was caught on a hogline violation. The stones have a sensor that will light green for clean throws, and red if the stone is touched over the hogline. This happened in the critical 11th end which Sweden went on to when. In video replay, it appear Muirhead's hand was not close to the stone at the hogline. However, video replay is not used. The official tested the stone afterwards and it appeared to be working. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/winter-olympics/43102783
