baron-pierreIV
It's gone. The only roofed structure in history to host 2 Super Bowls, a Centennial Olympics, and a number of Final Four games. (Was there in 1995 for the 1st National Transplant Games.) Wasteful America! BTHarner
Sad, we saw the Russia-Italy and USA-Zaire women's basketball games there in 1996. It started to pour outside and the sound of the rain bouncing off that roof made it sound as if we were inside a drum. Another perfectly good stadium gone too soon. yoshi
Only America would have an 80000 seat, 20ish year old, perfectly usable (seemingly) stadium & blow it up. Like Baron says, what a waste
Durban Sandshark
All because of Arthur Blank's greedy desire to have his Atlanta Falcons stay competitive financially and take charge of the revenues. Nothing against the newer and quite innovative Mercedes-Benz Dome. But the Georgia Dome getting imploded after over 25 years of tremendous usage with still lots to offer is indeed a waste. Sad. Should've seen a great as Georgia World Congress Center expansion space for conventions with some sports events with some renovations. baron-pierreIV
Yet the implosion @ Detroit's Silverdome failed! How was that possible? http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/03/us/detroit-silverdome-implosion-attempt/index.html
