Ikarus360
As we near the opening ceremony of the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines (which will be done by Fivecurrents), someone uploaded the opening ceremony of the 1991 SEA Games in Manila. These were held just a few years after the country recovered it's democracy with the victory of the People Power Revolution.

Ikarus360
Opening ceremony of the 2019 SEA Games. For a Fivecurrents production, it was honestly somewhat of a letdown, not sure if it has to do with either the budget or the limitations of doing this in an indoor arena (which is not the same as a football one, since Philippine Arena is mostly for basketball, concenrts and INC masses). Lightning of the cauldron, being prerecorded, was probably the most controversial part of it. Still, it had a couple of nice moments, and Apple de App from Black Eyed Peas performed. Ikarus360
^^ Vietnam has changed a lot on the last two decades. I'm sure they will be able to do something nice in two years. As for the handover itself, not so sure since they still have not unveiled their logo. Cambodia in 2023 is the one which also intrigues me as how they will do it since they never hosted anything big in the past and like Vietnam have changed a lot. panamfan
Someone recently uploaded the complete CBS Sports coverage of the 1996 Paralympic Games in Atlanta, hosted by Al Trautwig. Ikarus360
Closing ceremony of the SEA Games airing right now, but tbh looks very low budget. 2019 hasn't been a good year for ceremonies, sadly. Only good ceremonies were Lima 2019. The rest overall have been a letdown, specially the Universiade opening (hard to believe that was done by Marco Balich. Guess he was more focused on the Lima show). Oh well.
BigVic
I did liked the RWC Opening Ceremony

Ikarus360
Some rare videos from behind the scenes of Pyeongchang 2018 opening. One of the persons who worked in the mapping sequences of the opening posted a vid showing how they were being planned. The "Bell of Peace" opening video just before the countdown, now in RAW version and 60 fps How the mapping sequence of "The Land of Peace" segment was made
Durban Sandshark
Could a ceremony like this serve as this year's saving grace for ceremonies in Ikarus360's opinion? This one, taking place at the 2019 FIBA African Women's Basketball Championships in Dakar, Senegal, is regarded by FIBA as one of the top moments in international basketball in 2019. The basketball quality was very good there in Dakar's brand new 15,000-seat arena that opened well before the tournament by Senegal's President Macky Fall with a Senegal and Turkey U18 game (Turkish contractors were involved in its construction). But the opening Ceremony to the African women's championship was the talking point with a great performance from Dip Doundou Guiss as all the spectators danced and sang to his music:
yoshi
An actual Olympic opening ceremony happens & it doesn’t even get posted on here? At least we can get an official video nowadays:
BTHarner
Interest in the YOGs is, at best, lukewarm around here (75 total posts in the forums pertaining to the 2018 and 2020 editions). That's probably why nobody was beating the door down to post the OC as soon as possible. You can slap the Olympic rings on it, but it just doesn't feel like an Olympic Games. Just my opinion. Still a very new entity in the Olympic universe. It takes time--years really--to develop for better renown in the mainstream sports public at a time where there's presently a very crowded sports scene. Does have potential to, if it hasn't already, cultivate a niche. But it's a solid outlet for young athletes around the world in a smaller scale (like venues) to showcase their talents and develop valuable international experience, especially for those from nations where some sports like the winter ones are largely alien. Like being a UAE ice hockey player. May lack star power for some. But that's not the point of YOGs.
Ikarus360
Opening of the Indian Ocean Island Games last year in Mauritius. Actually not bad for a small scale event. They even used floor mapping. Also the placard bearers were a bit reminiscing of the Rio bycicle ones

LatinXTC
Thanks to Covid-19 I'm getting around to watching OCs, and maybe CCs, I've missed the last couple of years due to work and my obsession with Pokemon Go. Currently watching the 2019 Minsk OC and dear god WTF did I just watch??? In more positive news, the Olympic channel finally uploaded my all-time favorite Olympic OC, the 2000 Sydney OC. The footage looks exactly what davidatkinsfan had uploaded on his channel, which currently is unplayable due to "restrictions." Anyways, here's the link. PS: The channel will be uploading the 2006 Torino/Turin OC in about 12hrs.
panamfan
FINALLY! A Great Find on YouTube! From Argentine TV - The entire 30+ minute protocol segment from the 1995 Pan American Games Opening Ceremony in Mar del Plata. (And in decent quality too!) The raising of the Olympic and PASO Flags, the speeches, the official opening, the passing of the official PASO flag from Havana to Mar del Plata and the lighting of the flame. You can hear the stadium PA announcer introduce the athletes oath just before the video ends. Now if the uploader had just refrained from putting his name on the top left of the picture...(lol)
Croz
about time olympic channel finally uploaded these. I keep watching PyeongChang ceremonies just to forget about Incheon asian games ceremonies. Hope they upload Nagano 1998 ceremonies
