That was my website - The Pan American Games Fan Pages!  Thanks for remembering it. I'm glad somebody appreciated my work.  I'm sad, too, that it was lost - I was very proud of it.  I loved watching t

The French have this proclivity to do strange things with their ceremonies.  And they like to do outdoor/"theatre in the streets."   1.  weird Albertville 1992 ceremonies 2. Med Games 1993 -

Here is NBC's coverage of Cathy Freeman's Race. One of the Great Moments In Olympic History

Opening Ceremony excerpt of the 2004 SAF Games (South Asian Games or South Asian Federation Games) held in islamabad, Pakistan on March 29.

Those games were origially scheduled for 2001, but they were cancelled due to 9/11 issues and their consequences: Afghanistan invasion and  NATO declaration to Pakistan as  a non ally country. Those games were, then , postponed for March 2004.

OK, final critique, having watched the whole OC now.  A dull, uninspired, anti-climactic, joyless ceremony.  Terrible lighting -- everything always dark that as a viewer, you never got a sense of the stadium, or the scale of anything.  Typical or even 2nd-rate Cirque du Soleil.  This would not even have passed muster in Vegas.  It's almost like a poor man's copy of London 2012.  Such a letdown after an "A" ceremony in Vancouver.  Might not even feel motivated to watch the Closing.

Verdict: A lower case "c-" (for "canada."  ;) )

Here are all 3 entertainment segments of the 2015 Pan American Games closing ceremony - all in HD. ENJOY!

1. Canada Creative Segment

2. Peru Handover Segment

3. Entire Music Segment featuring Serena Ryder, Pitbull, and Kanye West (with the infamous mic toss)

Seven News Melbourne's full post-Opening Ceremony news bulletin that aired right after it with a review and reaction across Sydney of what went down at Stadium Australia in Homebush and the torch relay's final day being in Sydney minus the commercial breaks. At 16: 35, a preview of what to watch for on the official first day of competition that included Jelena Dokic's dad restriction on seeing her for his abuse on his daughter, women's triathlon, swimming with the Australia-USA rivalry, Team USA men's basketball team, and Grant Hackett and his fam:

Busy year for Marco Balich. Not only they're doing the Pan Am Games ceremonies, but also the 2019 Universiade in Naples

They also decided to make the closing ceremony at the Piazza Plebiscito.

Opening Ceremony of the Asian Cultural Carnival held in Beijing on May, 14.

At the Bird Nest Stadium, this spectacular show desmostrates us again that none can top China in these kind of ceremonies...

Again.. Sit back and... enjoy!!!!

Really hate how the Champions League Final ceremonies were turned into a pseudo Super Bowl Halftime show to be honest.....really miss when they actually displayed the culture of the host country. Absolutely soulless.

Yes, the rot started when Pepsi started sponsoring the ceremony (!) Particular lowlight when Cardiff (which doesn’t get many chances to put on ceremonies & show off to the world, at least Spain could host other things) had to stage a meh mini-concert of the Black Eyed Peas with a clutch of dancers jumping around randomly. Such a shame when you see how impressive CL ceremonies were getting, especially in Lisbon & Berlin

I just came across this.

From the horse's mouth himself, David Wolper, on the secret problems of putting on the 1984 Opening Ceremony and dealing with the Mob for the 1986 Liberty Centennial Weekend.   (He tends to exaggerate and round things off a bit.)

But, enjoy.

It’s slightly embarrassing when a continental tournament arranged in 5 months by the utter basketcase that is the CAF has a better opening ceremony than anything FIFA itself has managed for several years...

The ceremony is actually just the last 20ish minutes - they turned the cameras on early.

Milan/Cortina plan of using Verona amphitheater as the closing ceremony venue is similar to what France did at the closing ceremony of the 1993 Mediterranean Games, also done in an ancient roman site.

Nice one.

Speaking of FIFA ceremonies, though: Does anybody know where to find a full record of South Africa's opening in 2010 (the ceremony at Soccer City)?
