Olympic Channel now has the OC from Innsbruck 1976, I don't believe that I've seen it anywhere before on YouTube or any other site.

The Innsbruck 1976 Closing Ceremony has now been uploaded to the Olympic Channel as well.  What a nice Christmas present from the IOC to finally see these two ceremonies in their entirety. I wonder if any other winter games ceremonies will be uploaded in the lead up to Pyeongchang in these next few weeks?

It would be cool to see Lake Placid 1980 Opening as well.

As for Sochi, well....considering those games are retrospectively the worst embarrassment for olympism ever, I'm not surprised by their backlash.

I agree 100%. Nonetheless, I still like to see them again and again for historic purposes--can't wipe them out completely. They existed and were transmitted worldwide.

Never ever saw Innsbruck's and Lake Placid's OCs. Like to in the future very soon.

I found the complete NHK broadcasts of the Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games ceremonies on a Japanese video site called nicozon (or nicovideo).  The clips are downloadable but for some reason there is only sound the picture is black - although the original Japanese language graphics do appear on the black screen. I don't know if it is a codec problem? Does anyone here know why the video is not displaying correctly? Here are the direct links to download the videos.  The first link is to the main page for that video, the second link is to the download page, and the third link is the direct link for downloading the .Mp4 file.

Another great find. I did not know that the 1975 opening was in the Azteca, I had just assumed it was at Olympic Stadium.

I noticed here, as well in the video from 1987, that Chile comes in out of order behind Cuba in the parade, was there some political reason for this?

It's possible. Back then there was a lot of sympathy in Mexico for the left movement. United States team was booed heavily while Cuba team was received with cheers, for what I read somewhere.

If this has been posted before, then I apologize, but I did a search of this board and didn't find it:

Valeria Lynch and Jairo perform "Toda America" at the climax of the opening ceremony of the 1995 Pan American Games.  A real showstopper. The maestro conducting the orchestra behind them is Lalo Schifrin who composed this song as well as the official fanfare of the 1987 Pan American Games and the theme song to the TV show Mission Impossible.  The clip is unfortunately of a low visual quality. Enjoy!
