Kenadian Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 Nominations are now being accepted for the host city of the 2019 Session to decide the host of the 2026 Winter Games. All nominations close at 00:00 EST on March 28. Voting begins at the same time and will be determined by a 2-day poll. Countries with bids in the Games race cannot run in the Session city race. ******************** A modern city, sunny beaches, booming economy, a beautiful snowy white convention centre that looks like mountains, and so close to Mexico you can smell the tequila...I nominate San Diego, USA!

baron-pierreIV Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 I am wavering between: - Barcelona 2019 ..."Visit the sepulchres of that old IOC dictator and his wife, Juan Antonio and Bibis Samaranch." or - Mogadishu 2019 ..."Relive the actual sites of BLACK HAWK DOWN!" Some pertinent feedback will be considered.
amorincognito Posted March 23, 2006 Report Posted March 23, 2006 São Paulo - Brazil São Paulo, Brazil's major economic and multicultural centre, is the largest city in the world yet to host an Olympic event. Hosting the IOC Session is not only well within the city's means, but would be a way of promoting the city and its sporting culture. Nine million tourists visit the city each year, staying in the city's 50,000 hotels and flats. Large-scale conventions are frequently held all over the city, covering almost every theme imaginable, using both indoor convention centre space and the outdoor city. The city has 12,500 restaurants, 280 cinemas, 71 museums, 120 theatres, 41 cultural heritage sites, 72 shopping centres, 34 parks and 13 permanent international events. São Paulo Fashion Week "Parada do Orgulho GLBT", the largest gay pride parade in the world, welcomed 1.8 million participants in 2004

HFB-Melbourne Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 I nominate stunning Sydney, Australia
Kenadian Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 I nominatate Rabat and Casablanca , Morocco Is this a joint bid or two separate bids? A joint bid won't work as an IOC Session is held in a hotel/convention centre over a couple of days.
Kenadian Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 Recap: City, Country (Continent/Region) Christchurch, New Zealand (OC) Helsinki, Finland (EU) San Diego, USA (NA) Sao Paulo, Brazil (SA) Sarajevo, Bosnia (EU) Saskatoon, Canada (NA) Sydney, Australia (OC) Bids requiring clarification or finalization: Morocco - Casablanca or Rabat (AF) Barcelona, Spain (EU) Mogadishu, Somalia (AF) Because of the large number of nominees, we will probably shortlist to 2 or 3...otherwise, the vote on the decision city will take longer than the entire bid phase.
baron-pierreIV Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 OK, it's mogadiShu -- the best moShu pork this side of the Horn!!
krow Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 Recap:City, Country (Continent/Region) Christchurch, New Zealand (OC) Helsinki, Finland (EU) San Diego, USA (NA) Sao Paulo, Brazil (SA) Sarajevo, Bosnia (EU) Saskatoon, Canada (NA) Sydney, Australia (OC) Bids requiring clarification or finalization: Morocco - Casablanca or Rabat (AF) Barcelona, Spain (EU) Mogadishu, Somalia (AF) Because of the large number of nominees, we will probably shortlist to 2 or 3...otherwise, the vote on the decision city will take longer than the entire bid phase. use a simple poll. this is so worthless it doesn't matter if someone cheats.
pooette Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 i am so there for saskatoon. i was going to say edmonton. but two prarie cities is just retarded.
Kenadian Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 It will be a poll, but with so many on the list, the vote could be spread thin.
thatsnotmypuppy Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 Who cares - a simple poll, 24 hours - the one with the most wins. Simple. I wouldnt even try to rig this poll - yawn. So inconsequential.
thatsnotmypuppy Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 Djibouti DJIBOUTI announces it's candidacy. The conference will be held in a beduoin style tent city on the edge of the desert. Oh, and there will be flies and camels.
HFB-Melbourne Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 Djibouti DJIBOUTI announces it's candidacy. The conference will be held in a beduoin style tent city on the edge of the desert. Oh, and there will be flies and camels. Well, Sydney will host in the Aboriginal Tent Embassy near the University. There will, therefore, be hippies; and therefore there will be both flies and camels. And seeing how it's in Australia, it's on the edge of the desert. Can equal the bedouin thingie-aborigines are interesting enough-and Sydney has the advantage of Potable water.
thatsnotmypuppy Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 Well Djibouti will be protected by Foreign Legion troops with surly attitudes, staffed by famine ridden - but oh so hot - emaciated Ethiopian women and every IOC member will leave with a complimentary bout of malaria or dengue fever!
krow Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 i think the island of st. lucia wants in too. just open a thread and tell people to vote for whoever they want, the one with the most votes wins. stop making this rocket surgery.
