thatsnotmypuppy
I really liked Moana. Probably more than Frozen but not as much as Hercules. This is why - These songs have been stuck in my head for days.
JMarkSnow2012
Ermm... I really liked T2 Trainspotting, partly because of the way it uses music (e.g about 0.4 seconds of one iconic track) to mess with viewers' heads.

All I'll say is that both those tracks are present after a fashion, and the precise nature of their respective presences (and even of one notable aural absence) is significant. OMG I am genuinely impressed (although I'm still not convinced that Dutch is a suitable language for singing)

But songs rarely, if ever, translate as well as regular dialogue would. And you take into account metaphors, analogies etc that are riddled in songs and it even further confuses the translation since a Dutch person may not completely understand what it means. Also let's not forget that Defying Gravity is from a broadway musical, so the song wasn't particularly designed for some lazy bitch to stand there and do nothing. Give me this over that Dutch any day!

zekekelso
>> If you're here saying she does a better job singing this song than Idina Menzel then that's an entirely different argument I've heard Verkaik in Dutch, German, English and American...and the song sounds best in Dutch. It's a bitchy/fucktheworld song and the Dutch works perfect for that.

LatinXTC
Is Dwayne Johnson the singer for all of Maui's somgs, or is it an entirely different person?
thatsnotmypuppy
In the English version - yes. He does Maui's singing. I doubt he recorded the Dutch/German/Japanese versions phonetically. They appear to have other singers credited.

Probably should have listened to the video before asking because that definitely was him lol. I thought they would have picked a professional singer like how they did with many animated musicals from the 90s where the voice actor was a separate person from the one who sings their character's songs.
