PikyoK
THAT IS MAGNIFICENT
WD96
I hope the opening and closing ceremony will feature Korean culture with a futuristic twist (for example, the pungmul dance will have lights on the futuristic costumes and the instruments). I hope for the Beijing presentation at the closing ceremony, it will feature all cameos of Chinese cartoon characters from domestic and foreign ones (like Black Cat Detective, Pleasant Goat, Trixie Tang, Kai-Lan, Lizbeth Zaragoza, etc.)
WD96
I almost forgot one more example for the ceremony. Maybe the cauldron could be lit by a miniature rocket ship.

If a reference can be misinterpreted, you need to decide, before making that reference public, whether the misinterpretation will do more harm than good. Nacholympic
If there are white spaces, specially on the floor, I can bet there will be projections again... When will the rehearsals start???
Ikarus360
Rehearsals already started though in an enclosed space similar to the stadium, at this moment. They will move to the stadium to rehearse in January for what I understood. They are already rehearsing some other details in the meanwhile, though, like some of the fireworks effects (the video I posted some posts ago). Waldi
i love the new pics - they also show clearly what that mysterious slope is meant for : easy access for the athletes to their seats - as there is clearly no fence between slope and seats
Ikarus360
^^ Now that you mention it, those are most likely the athletes seats given they're the only ones without a fence. I still wonder what there will be in the other side, though. Guess we can't know until the cablenet is finished.

paul
it's so strange to just see the cauldron out and lit already....like S. Koreans can't be bothered with all the secrecy and maneuvering of the past few Olympics. I don't love their cauldron but I appreciate the funk-it attitude........everybody's too busy with their 1000 step cleanse and focus on han. Ikarus360
Only secretive winter cauldron we had recently was Vancouver , to be honest. In almost all recent WOG we knew beforehand how the cauldrons were gonna be.
Nacholympic
The latest Winter Games host won't compete at PyeongChang.... Russia has been banned from compete at 2018 Winter Olympics in a unprecedent decisition... How will this affect to the Games??? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/olympics/2017/12/05/russia-banned-competing-2018-winter-olympics/
WD96
I want to see PSY performing.
Ikarus360
I thought PSY stopped being popular at least 2 years ago? They did promised a bit of K-Pop though. Maybe Rain or EXO would perform given they're the most popular groups both inside and outside SK.
thatsnotmypuppy
Well BigBang were announced as ambassadors - so maybe they'll let TOP have a night off from his military service to rejoin the band? SHINee are well known internationally as well.
mattygs
K Pop has a place I guess, I just hope to God it's not used as the soundtrack to the lighting of the cauldron which the Koreans seem to love doing.

They did just that at the Incheon 2014 Opening Ceremony. Wasn't that good!
PikyoK
I hope they do a flame lighting soundtrack similar to the Gwangju 2015 Summer Universiade Opening Ceremony one.
