Online forums in China said Shenyang has submitted the bid of 2021 Asian Winter Games. However it is quite low-key that I cannot find any news report on it.

According to the forum discussion, it seems that Shenyang faces the problem of inadequate infrastructure. Therefore it is not clear whether Shenyang will be the sole candidate. There are also discussions that the 2021 Asian Winter Games will be awarded to Beijing as a testing event of the 2022 Winter Olympic, yet other said 2021 maybe too rush for Beijing to get all things ready.

Anyway, it seems that Shenyang is likely to be a major candidate, if not the sole one, of 2021 Asian Winter Games.

is there any chance that both Shenyang and Beijing to host the games like Astana-Almaty 2011?

Good idea in theory - but if there are delays in getting the transport and mountain infrastructure in place in time then I'm guessing we see back to back Sapporo Winter Games.  Having been to Shenyang it is a nightmare to get around and furthermore the mountains nearby are not really developed at all.  Harbin/Changchun maybe.  Shenyang - no.

If it is Beijing, we will likely see all 15 disciplines on the Winter Asian Games program for the first time ever.

Would have been nice to see luge this year, would have given India a solid chance to win a gold.

So the Ashgabat Games are done and still no announcement of the 2021 Asian Winter Games host...

Maybe Beijing passed as they need more time for the rapid train and speed skating oval?

I don't recall a confirmed bid from Shenyang...

Maybe back to Sapporo??

The Universiade people also approached Seoul/Pyongyang to host the games in 2021 (summer version)

Turns out it went to Chengdu, a city in southwestern China.

The Chinese are really grabbing these major events well, aren't they?

First this year's Basketball World Cup, then the 2021 Universiade and after that, the Winter Olympics

Oh, I forgot they're hosting the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou as well.

I made a profile just to ask this question, so I’d appreciate a response. Has anyone heard anything about these games. People seem convinced they will happen, but I’m not aware of a host yet.

The OCA has not confirmed anything.  With Pyeongchang, Sapporo (again) and Beijing all able to host at short notice I'm guessing they are waiting until everything (sponsors/sport federations) are all lined up.

Yes i feel like, events like these should be reconsidered because of everything going on, except theyre gonna do empty stadiums. But I personally feel like that a lot of people will be against it being held in china.

does anyone know if the AWG were scrapped or if the OCA was waiting for PyeongChang and Beijing to pass before continuing them?

They may have to delay that for 2025.
