The Great Noth Run

Recommended Posts

A bit small-scale by Rio standards, but very nice!

It looks as if Adclick has an algorithm to detect scenic views, because the ad which was fed to me at the bottom of your post was for the National Trust !

I visit South Shields (Newcastle upon Tyne)
all the time it has the most dramatic coast line and beaches
you will find any were in the world.

the great north run ends right  by the cliffs and beaches

to see it covered on TV with all the panache of a race through luton air port is is such a wast of the location.

But the position of the finish is about 400 metres away from the beach, specifically so that everybody can spread out on the open grassland of the Leas

If that beach/coastline had been 400 meters away from an event at London 2012
an Olympic broadcaster would have used More imaginative camera angles to encompass the geography in the race.

They could only have shown the scene effectively from the air, and the helicopter was being used to show runners further back.

Did you see the "12th Mile" bit in Terry Deary's little Horrible Histories segments (around 3:51:00 on iPlayer)? That was about the Marsden Grotto, so it was filmed down on the most scenic bit of the beach.

I did see the short historic section on masden beach.

it did little to elevate the pedestrian nature of the rest of the coverage.

Apparently the North east coast line is the most undersold part of Britain.

this is an ongoing problem and they need to do MUCH!!! more

to sell the area during events like the Great north run.

Now that Rio is coming to an end,

There were scenic shots to start every show, scenic shots inbeetween every item, scenic shots behind every caption, scenic shots behind every results table,

scenic shots to end every show,

scenic shots .scenic shots scenic shots,

the BBCV coverge of events like the Great north run
and the London Marathon for that mater is appalling.

they need to do much better!!!!!
