They certainly beat them in rank as far as medals go, one more gold than China. But they don't beat them in medal count. China has 3 more than GB. But meh total medals no one cares, it's all about who wins more gold. Enjoy it GB, because in 4 years you may not have Scottish and Northen Irish athletes to help you in the medal count, if they even did much to help you in the medal count to begin with. Mainad
4th in Beijing, 3rd in London, 2nd In Rio, hmmmm........no, I think going 1 better in Tokyo is probably a step too far for Team GB! Nice thought though!!

That's such a wrong attitude to have in general, though. An Olympic medal is still an Olympic medal. And I'm sure that a lot of those silver & bronze medalists don't trivialize their medals as those who don't really know how much hard work & dedication it still took those athletes to get those 2nd & 3rd place medals that "no one cares" about, cuz I'm sure they still do.

The Tower Bridge Fox
some of the most inspiring moments of team Great Britain were bronze meddle wins seeing someone massively improve there performance to win bronze is just as gripping to watch as a gold medal. phandrosis
Japan moves up 5 spots since london, falling 2 golds short of doubling the gold tally in London. I feel like they're just getting started leading into Tokyo 2020.

Bezzi
The biggest disappointments in the "continent" were Canada and Mexico. They are the last countries that hosted the panam games. Canada won many bronzes but few golds. Colombia has improved. I think its the first time they are ahead of Argentina. For Brazil this is our best result. The second in America for the first time. Lets see if we will keep improving in Tokyo.

Canadians won 1 gold in London. 4 in Rio. 18 medals in London, 22 in Rio. Things happened that haven't happened in over two decades like gold medals in swimming and athletics. First Canadian to defend an Olympic title. First time in 70+ years Canada won multiple team sport medals. Canada's goal was top 12 for total medals. They finished 10th. Beating Cuba and Korea for the first time in forever. These Games are considered hugely successful here.
