guilherme
Asa Branca by Luiz Gonzaga in the red costum segment (bonecos de barro) When I saw the burned land Just like a bonfire in a country party I asked the lord, wow "Do I deserve this suffering?" I asked the lord, wow "Do I deserve this suffering?" It's as hot as hell Not even a single plant survives For lack of water, I lost my Cattle My best horse died of thirst Even the White Bird Flew away in the desert So I said: "goodbye, Rosinha" Remember my heart is with you So I said: " goodbye, Rosinha" Remember my heart is with you Today many miles away In a sad loneliness I hope it rains again For me to come back to my hometown When plants Are as green as your eyes I assure you, don't cry, you see I'll come back, you see, honey 2x

olympichris
Does anyone know the name of the songs when the olympic cauldron was lit?
JMarkSnow2012
1 hour ago, olympichris said: Does anyone know the name of the songs when the olympic cauldron was lit? It's apparently an original (and otherwise unreleased) composition by the ceremony's musical directors, Antonio Pinto & Beto Villares (who is quoted in an interview as saying: "Ser brasileiro, o máximo possível. Por exemplo, no acendimento da pira, momento final e simbólico, o solo é de rabeca, e a base, de violão e percussão. ") A track-by -track listing of the non-original music is at the Rio 2016 website (where the cauldron lighting music is again not named, but described as: " uma composição mais tranquila – mas nada militar. “É uma música calma”, explica Beto. “Não chega a ser solene, mas combina com cerimônia. Vai num crescendo, mas nunca explode.” ")

According to the official article I linked to a few hours ago, it's another original piece, jointly composed by Beto, Antonio Pinto, Renata Rosa & Marlui Miranda. Why there hasn't been at least an official digital release of the original pieces composed for the soundtrack is baffling.

Im still looking for pindorama of the opening ceremony Rio 2016 That seems to be an unofficial (though pretty impressive) arrangement by the uploader, yuu. The "耳コピ" in the video title apparently means "by ear". As for Pindorama etc., I note with amusement that, in the absence of any official releases, South America's equivalent of eBay, MercadoLivre / MercadoLibre, is becoming flooded with dubious DVDs of the opening and closing ceremonies!

wmd
Hi everyone. I have been searching for quite some time now trying to ascertain the names of certain pieces of music used in the opening and closing ceremony. Having read through this thread it appears at least one of these compositions has not been officially released yet. I thought it might be worth rechecking again anyway since this thread hasn't been updated in a while. Here are the compositions I'd like to find more about: Opening Ceremony - Composition that plays during the cauldron lighting - Composition that plays during the fireworks immediately following the cauldron lighting. It's an orchestral piece, and sounds very similar to the music used in the earlier segment showing when the Europeans first arrived on the ships in Brazil. Closing Ceremony - Composition that plays during the segment that starts with the female explorer holding the lamp. - Composition that plays during the "best moments" montage, immediately after Asa Branca. Any info much appreciated. Seems crazy that a full soundtrack wasn't released as I thought the music was the strongest element of these ceremonies. As far as I can tell, they still haven't released any official audio or video of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, which means that the titles of tracks written specially for the occasion (including, for example, the torch lighting and fireworks) remain unknown. Very frustrating. Having said that, if you look in the Comments of the official Olympic Channel videos of the ceremonies on YouTube, somewhere in the first couple of dozen (sorted by Top Comments) should be a long contribution by Emnisopu Smithson, with information about the pieces which start at particular times; not by any means complete, but still useful. If you read these, please upvote them so that they remain among the Top Comments ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_qXm9HY9Ro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssc5eLjLoMQ
wmd
Hi everyone. Sorry to bump an old thread, but I just wanted to check if any progress had been made over the years since the Rio ceremonies regards to obtaining the details of the tracks I mentioned in my previous post? munichfan
Unfortunately, I think it was never published. It's a real shame given Rio featured some amazing musical pieces in their opening.
