JMarkSnow2012
Oops! Usain Bolt: Olympic champion hopeful for Rio despite hamstring tearSix-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt has suffered an injury scare ahead of Rio after tearing a hamstring at Jamaica's Olympic trials. Bolt, 29, sustained the grade-one tear during the first round of the 100m and withdrew after winning his semi-final. He is still expected to defend his 100 and 200m titles as Jamaica's selection policy allows medical exemptions. Bolt "will seek treatment immediately" and is aiming to return for the London Anniversary Games on July 22. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/36692575
LatinXTC
Is Yohann Blake still competing? Jamaica has a pretty strong athlete roster for the sprint events so I have no doubt they'll do well even without Bolt. I'm no too thrilled about the US men's side considering that Justin Gaitlin and Tyson Gay, both previously serving suspensions for doping, will more than likely be in Rio. Until these two embarrassments are gone from track & field I can't get excited over the men's sprint events.
busterP
Newbie question here. How long does it take to be 100% from a grade 1 tear?
baron-pierreIV
Newbie question here. How long does it take to be 100% from a grade 1 tear? I hope at least one year in Bolt's case!!
paul
Did anyone see the Turkish Airlines TV add with Bolt......he sounded about as smart as a rock. He delivered a couple 2 word lines as though he was having difficulty reading off cue cards. Of course he did his little pose thingy and was wearing an expensive suit which all just looked ridiculous.
gotosy
Usain Bolt named in Rio 2016 Jamaica squad after injury scare Usain Bolt has been named in the Jamaica squad for the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay events at Rio 2016. There were fears over his participation after he suffered a hamstring injury at the national trials. But Bolt, 29, has since revealed he will compete at the London Anniversary Games, while he has been given a medical exemption by Jamaica for Rio. The six-time Olympic medallist, who won three gold medals at London 2012, is part of a 63-strong Jamaica team. Bolt, the 100m and 200m world record holder, sustained his injury - a grade-one tear - during the first round of the 100m in Kingston and withdrew after winning his semi-final. If he does compete in Rio, he will be aiming to complete an historic 'triple double' of 100m and 200m Olympic sprint titles, having won both in Beijing in 2008 and in London four years later. LatinXTC
Stupid move on his part. He's only going to aggravate his injury again and it could act up even more in Rio.
Mainad
He looks so much so much taller and bigger than everyone else! I enjoyed those commercials he made for Virgin Media with Richard Branson. They were quite funny! https://www.creativereview.co.uk/virgin-media-releases-really-quite-good-ad-starring-usain-bolt/ Edited August 16, 2016 by Mainad
