Sir Rols
Finally, they've switched to the 7s final. Okay, Fiji doesn't looks like it needs my cheering. For you Rob - c'mon GB!!!!!!!!!!
Sir Rols
Commiserations GB - but silver ain't shabby. Would that we got that far in the men's. And this is why Sevens was such an important inclusion to the Games. Seeing Fiji claim their first ever Gold.

krow
great game and i loved watching fiji take its first gold. i'm going to miss tuning into sevens every day — a lot more fun to watch than other rugby and so fast paced. side nite: is seven nation army the official anthem here? it's being played just about everywhere. Sir Rols
I think I got more emotional at that medal ceremony than I have at any Aussie one in Rio so far. Yeah, it's one of those special Olympic moments. So glad to have witnessed it.
R__
Never been less unhappy to see GB thrashed. I mean, I'm not *happy* about it, but only one team deserved Gold in this tournament and for it to be their nation's first ever Olympic medal....well, hat's off. We'll get a few dozen medals these Games, but this is everything to Fiji. One last thing: This sport has to stay in the Games.
R__
Oooh, "somebody" likes my post apparently. This forum's turned into a weird Olympic Valentine's Day. I hope it wasn't from my Mum.

And what a wonderful thing to see all the "expected" nations to fall and see new faces topple the mighty. To cap it all off...the spiritual home of Sevens take the Gold. The tournament sits nicely in the first week and the three day format great for the players...will need to assess the atrocious refereeing and lack of officiating, but only a minor blemish... Roll on 2020.
Durban Sandshark
To the point about Fiji claiming its first ever medal--a gold--in rugby sevens, the Fijian players celebrated by signing and prayed in the team circle afterwards. Back in Suva, Fiji a bank put up a sign indicated it'll be closed for 30 minutes so the staff can watch the gold medal match and celebrate. The joys of being a small nation like Fiji. Not only it helps gives a sport so that the Pacific Island nations have legit shots at medals, it also brings forth a sport, regardless of its codes, that's arguably has the biggest worldwide interest previously not in the Olympic program like the massive attention the Rugby World Cup gets, which perhaps is mainly ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup.
