Mr Tickle Posted July 6, 2015 Report Posted July 6, 2015 Such an incredible day. Those memories will linger forever. When it comes to legacy its always going to be tough, I think London has done better than most. I was proud at the time, and I'm proud today of what we achieved in our golden summer. oh sod it, lets join the race for 2024! Who's with me : )
Martijn Posted July 6, 2015 Report Posted July 6, 2015 Property prices near London’s Olympic park outperform rest of the country MONDAY, 06 JULY 2015 Property prices in areas surrounding the Olympic Park in London have increased by £1,500 per month since London won the bid in July 2005, new research shows. This rise is more than twice as fast as seen in the rest of England and Wales and these areas have also outperformed the rest of London since September 2012, according to an analysis by Lloyds Bank. The average property price in the 14 postal districts in East London closest to the Olympic Park has grown from £206,191 in July 2005 when the Games were awarded, to £378,884 in March 2015, an increase of 84% or £172,693, which is equivalent to a monthly increase of £1,476. http://www.propertywire.com/news/europe/uk-olympic-park-prices-2015070610713.html

I was proud at the time, and I'm proud today of what we achieved in our golden summer. It's only three years since the Games, quite premature to make any solid legacy evaluation for an event of this size.
micheal_warren Posted July 7, 2015 Report Posted July 7, 2015 Thanks for sharing the video. I will look forward to watching

Sir Rols Posted July 7, 2015 Report Posted July 7, 2015 Jeez a decade flies quickly. I remember it so well... my first big vote/announcement night on GBids. And still IMO the best vote "occasion" on the site, Good times!
JMarkSnow2012 Posted July 7, 2015 Report Posted July 7, 2015 But now all that was ten years ago yesterday.
BR2028 Posted July 7, 2015 Report Posted July 7, 2015 London hands down was one of the best bids submited to the IOC, and the 2012 bid race, IMO was the best bid race in Olympic bid history. Congratulations London for hosting one of the best games, and for continuing to be one of the worlds best cities after everything you have been through.
