Puppy reviews a summer of movies - an ongoing discussion...

And the only reason I'd want to go rush out to see it is in theaters is if I'm that desperate to see Chris Hemsworth's prosthetic penis slip out of his undies! But this is the internet and free gay porn is all over the place, so nope not that desperate!

Vacation is not a re-make it's a spinoff/sequel since the youngest Griswold is out having vacation with his own family now that he's all grown up.

Technically it could be seen as a remake, as it essentially remakes the whole plot of the first film, even if it is about Rusty and his family.

Why couldn't they just stick with the old iconic car? As for some of the homage jokes, the convertible girl is just horrible, getting crashed like that and everything.

Ugh. Let's just hope the soundtrack doesn't feature a remake of 'Holiday Road' by Ariana Grande featuring Pitbull...

I get the reboot thing - everyone's attention span seems to be about 7 or so years nowadays (G-d I sound old) - however some films just do not need a 'fresh start'.

OK, I indulged this p.m. Went to see Jurrasic World even though I still don't see the fascination for dinosaurs. It was pretty good in a cheesy kinda-way. Those doggone critters are bigger, more badasser than ever. Oh, and the humans, were for the most part, dumber than ever. Perfect matinee movie!!

I saw Trainwreck. I enjoyed it, don't ever want to see John Cena naked again. I really liked Southpaw but it was your typical sports-redemption shtick. Ant-Man was good, not great but on the same level as the Thor films.

Looking forward to TIFF. Lots of films screening that I want to see so should be fun.

Wait, how naked does Cena get in this film??? Do we see a juicy ass shot???

Yes

Oh pfft that's not even real nudity anymore Hugh Jackman did it in X-Men Days Of Future Past and the movie still got a PG-13 rating. It was quite though!

But I'm guessing there's no penis slip or at least a peek of it like Ben Affleck in Gone Girl.

Rented Zhang Yimou's THE FLOWERS OF WAR yesterday. It's Yimou's first film after his work on Beijing 2008. It's a good story but his telling is too bleak; and he really savages the Japanese rape of Nanking...literally. Well, the story takes place in a convent school and church in Nanking that was supposedly declared off-limits in the fighting. Unlike his other films, his eye for spectacle is almost absent here (except for the small battle sequences. The one with the lone Chinese soldier holdout, Liu, is particularly good!) Christian Bale is too hale and hearty in the film that should've been more a Humphrey Bogart type character. Still worth the watch all in all.

Saw THE MARTIAN yesterday. Great film...and I generally don't like space films -- too much hardware and gadgetry. But Damon did a...to use the pun...bang-up job as stranded Mark Watney. How odd that the main location site was Wadi Rum, also the main desert locations for LAWRENCE OF ARABIA. I think Damon will get a Best Actor nomination for this.

BRIDGE OF SPIES was also an entertaining film.
