Reykjavik 2015 Games of the Small States of Europe

Recommended Posts

No thread existed for the weeklong 2015 Games Small States of Europe, modest by international standards in comparison and surely doesn't get as much international interest, until now here in Reykjavik, Iceland. Everything ends today on the 6th for the nations of Iceland, Montenegro, Luxembourg, Malta, Cyprus, San Marino, Monaco, Andorra, and Liechtenstein.

Hosts Iceland did really well running away in the medal count for a total of 115--38 golds, 46 silvers, and 31 bronzes. Only San Marino didn't walk away with gold and hearing its national anthem. A more detailed posts will come starting next week as we look back on these Games. For now though, check out the Opening Ceremony, already at the Ceremonies on YouTube thread for you to look at, at the 5500-seat Laugardalsholl that resembled more like a glorified seminar/lecture/press conference/pep rally. The torch lighting was different. Just with a push of the button from the inside:

San Marino, the original GSSE host back in 1985, and 5 cities in Montenegro will hosts ones in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
