Blatter resigned

Recommended Posts

Blatter is a cancer which is destroying Football and must be destroyed inmediatly. Seriously, its as if the guy is saying to us "I'm corrupt, you know i'm corrupt, everyone knows I am, and I dont give a damn. What are you going to do about it?"

Because many of the relevant people inside FIFA and many of the national groups are equal or worse comparing Blatter. Blatter is just the head of the huge rotten institution. Or did you think people like Platini (Which supported Qatar btw), the Sheik, Beckenbauer or others aren't corrupts?

FIFA presidential election to be held on Feb 26

ZURICH (AP) — The FIFA presidential election to choose Sepp Blatter's successor will be held on Feb. 26, 2016.

The decision was taken by FIFA's executive committee on Monday.

Michel Platini confirms he will run for FIFA president

GENEVA (AP) — Michel Platini has launched his campaign to succeed Sepp Blatter as FIFA president, aiming to give the scandal-hit governing body "the dignity and the position it deserves."

Platini, the UEFA president and a FIFA vice president, wrote to member federations in Europe on Wednesday saying he will stand in the election and is counting on their support.

The FIFA election is on Feb. 26 and would-be candidates must apply by Oct. 26.

"There are times in life when you have to take your destiny into your own hands," wrote Platini, who turned 60 last month. "I am at one of those decisive moments, at a juncture in my life and in events that are shaping the future of FIFA."

Platini has for years been the obvious candidate to succeed Blatter, his mentor in FIFA politics. But a rift between the long-time allies deepened when Blatter broke a promise to leave office in 2015.

I really hope Platini won't be elected, he's been a great player, did some good and bad things as dirigeant, but he won't change anything and his involvement into the 2022 WC vote is a big fail.

The question is, is there really a person among current candidates who actually can (wants) to change the FIFA?

I highly doubt about it.

I think 2022 WC will be held, as planned, in Qatar, and this after thousands deaths of slaves on construction sites... What a shame.

Chung Mong-joon announces FIFA presidency bid, takes swipe at rival Platini

Mong-joon is the former president of the South Korean Football Association and also spent time as the vice-president of FIFA.

The 63-year-old told BBC’s World Football programme of his intention to run against UEFA president Platini, who on Wednesday announced that he would stand to replace Blatter.

"If I get elected, my job is not to enjoy the luxury of the office. My job is to change it," he added.

Mong-joon, who is the current major shareholder of Hyundai and worth $1.2 billion (£769m) according to Forbes, added: "It will be very difficult for him to have any meaningful reforms. Mr Platini enjoys institutional support from the current structure of Fifa. Mr Platini is very much a product of the current system."

The next FIFA presidential election will be held on February 26, though all potential candidates have until October 26 to be nominated.

Platini seems to be the favorite to get this, but he's not much better than Blatter, to be honest. I always thought he did some erratic decisions in UEFA (I'm not a big fan of having expanded the Euro to 24 teams, to be honest).

The best thing that could have happened for Football has happened. Blatter will be away from Fifa. Hopefully, we will have a Fifa Boss who isn't corrupt in the future.

With this current slate of contenders, better not expecting a lot of changements.

Actually Platini was one of the biggest defenders of Qatar 2022.

Maradona as Robert Baratheon, Platini as Littlefinger and Sepp as Tywin, obviously.

LMFAO!!

Totally lost his rag on TV. And he can no longer leave Switzerland. FBI ready to pounce.

He'd have already been detained with the others in Switzerland.

And that hasn't happened because they don't really have anything against him. Blatter may say that FIFA in essence is uncorrupt, but he can only speak for himself. He doesn't have as much of an iron grip on the organization as he thinks he does.
