Sir Rols
With 30 members voting, we're now down to a top four in the Tokyo 2020 logo comp. Unfortunately, we now see barrack's design drop out! Thanks for entering barrack, it was great to see a past champ entering again, and making the finals in both sections. Well done! The final results were: A (nzl) - 10 B (barrack) - 1 C (mr.bernham) - 3 D (paul) - 12 (one vote from stir.ts re-allocated from E to D) E (aismanggo) - 4 (see above) All votes cast were valid. Okay, onto round 2: This voting round will be open for (approximately) 24 hours - it will close after 7am, Thursday January 15, Sydney time (8pm Jan 14 GMT). Voting will now be conducted in rounds until one entry has an absolute majority and is declared the winner. In this and following rounds, the logo with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated at the close of the poll. Vote in the poll for your favourite logo. You have ONE vote, so make it count. Your vote is public and can be seen by all. Entrants MAY now vote for their own logo if they wish. Votes are valid if cast by members of GamesBids as of December 1 2014 with a bona fide posting record. I will rule on the validity of any suspicious or disputed votes, or who constitutes a bona fide voting member. I will not vote in this, or any subsequent rounds, unless a tie-breaker vote is needed. Be fair and sportsmanlike, this is meant to be fun and the entrants all deserve RESPECT. Let's see if anyone's preferences short intros round. Good luck to all our remaining entrants! __ Godzilla watch: Sorry to say, Osaka has copped the lizard's wrath! The rampage is relentless. The people of Tokyo, and the cities in its path, are praying we find a winner quick. Make it so!
nzl
Thanks for all those who have voted for my logo this far. I apologise for what happened in the order thread, it was uncalled for. Good luck to all the other contestants.
paul
Here’s a little more info on my logo: The logo is a stylized combo of Mt Fuji (lower left part), and some classic elements like fans and umbrella arranges to form the impression of the iconic sun on the flag of Japan. The main graphic is composed with 40 lines which represent the Olympic year 2020, 20+20=40. The arrangement of the lines spinning on a center axis also represents the second hand on a stopwatch, which speaks to sports and competition but also "this moment" and time in general. …and here’s some stamps I made yesterday focused on the time element. krow
nzl's logo actually is good but i could never vote for it because he bugs me. annoying people don't deserve to win anything. they just deserve to come insanely close every single time to where they actually let their hopes get up only to get crushed at the last minute and then have to say something annoying like "it's great to come in 2nd, practically the same thing." that's how you keep annoying people in their place. runningrings
I voted for Paul C, but I think nzl's entry is beautiful, and like Paul's is easily above the rest.

Thanks for entering barrack, it was great to see a past champ entering again, and making the finals in both sections. Well done! Thanks. I'm actually really proud myself. To get this far without politicking, "applying" the art on other media, or having to defend my work while putting down others, I consider myself a winner. :-) I let the work speak for itself and it got farther than I expected. Back off Darcy - you are becoming a third class humourless bore. Paul - your venue renders please? I have never seen it to this extent before. Postage stamps, plastered on several buildings, gifs... And judging by Barracks posts and the amount of likes it's received, i'd say others agree.

Is that the Victoria's-Secret-Stadium?? Is that for real? I give it an "A" cup rating!

And judging by Barracks posts and the amount of likes it's received, i'd say others agree. Oh, come on Darcy. The renders are an integral part of the comps. And I do think they're fun and popular and serve a purpose in showing how the logos would look in-situ. I encourage them. We even had a whole section one year (the Durban year) just for such renders. Almost time to shut up shop for the year, if anyone wants to get in a late vote.
