barrack
ok, so here is my official entry for this competition. It is a simple design, depicting an athlete in motion. The colour red symbolises the host nation of Japan and the figure is also shaped as a T for Tokyo, host city. It is in a brushstroke style to symbolise Japanese art. It also pays homage to older styles of Olympic logos. A simple, yet effective logo for Tokyo's games. I like it. I kinda looks like a Japanese character. I don't know anything about Japanese scripts, but it kinda looks like one to me.
barrack
Good news! They've got an evacuation plan for me, so I'll be on the first flight to Manila... then back to the States later this week. I had enough time to sort out something for Borjomi. I really had no idea where to go with it. The city flag has trees on it, and their previous bid logo was a tree... but I dunno. I wanted to do something else. So it turns out the area is famous for its hot springs and mineral water. So I thought... hot bubbles? Then I thought maybe make an Olympic flame from bubbles? Welp, here you have it... my submission for Borjomi 2022... "Flaming Bubbles." I used the rings as a cauldron.
barrack
Ugh. I wish I could edit. I pasted the wrong image link from an earlier version.
JMarkSnow2012
Exactly, I used this image to make mine. And no I did not copy a red one from the internet, to my knowledge no such one exists. My red is taken from the flag of Japan. It is very easy to make a similar bird, you using the snipping tool on pixlr to make triangles then after you make the shape you can color it in with a gradient. Having made them in different layers you then assemble them into any shape. In this case I assembled them into the same shape seen in that picture and another picture I posted a few pages back. My bird may be a damn near copy, but I'm not going to copy and paste someones work. But why go to the trouble of making your new bird exactly the same as the web original apart from the hue shift [which is all I've done with the stationary image here]? krow
at this point it would be gauche to not plagiarize a logo.
Anthony
I say if there is any thought that a submission was plagiarized, then it should not count...
Cody1985
First Guys, no one was born as a Photoshop specialist or creative Designer ... But to make this Competiton fair and serious please use your own creativity for making the Logo ... Here is mine, and the only one I will send to this Contest. Takes 1-2 hours with average Photoshop knowledge The Shape is a Key. Within, there is a snow-flake including a winter blossom, an abstract building enlightened during the Harbin Ice Festival and the letters XXIV (represent the 24th Winter Olympiad)
mr.bernham
But why go to the trouble of making your new bird exactly the same as the web original apart from the hue shift [which is all I've done with the stationary image here]? Why copy and paste someone elses work when you can make something exactly the same in maybe ten minutes? Especially if you want a transparent version of a logo. I had to make my own version in the first place so I would have a transparent or PNG version. Not to mention I still changed the color and added the rings. I am not denying that I used these as inspiration, but I did not copy and paste and then call it a day. First Guys, no one was born as a Photoshop specialist or creative Designer ... But to make this Competiton fair and serious please use your own creativity for making the Logo ... The idea to make an origami bird was completely mine, I looked up origami birds so I would know how to make one and then I made it.

Like ...Unlocking that Winter Fire....or something like that.
Cody1985
@ mr.bernham looking for inspirations is absolutely OK! But you copy a template, and used it for your logo. Just changing the colour and set some effects isn't the way I understand making a Logo But the people here will decide when it comes to the voting ... @baron-pierreIV ok i will think about it
woohooitsme83
ughhh. I"m starting to regret deciding to release my logos later this month. Now people are going to think I'm stealing ideas from the previous submissions >.<

Sir Rols
But the people here will decide when it comes to the voting ... Exactly. I don't think I've ever "banned" a logo. Or at least I can't remember ever doing so. I'm not really expecting to do so - it's not my place to impose my standards on what I think makes a good logo on the comp. That's what we vote on. I try to be more an administrator and MC and keep hands-off unless I really have to intervene (usually just to tell people to calm down). When it comes to voting, I think people here take it pretty seriously. I don't think the votes have ever really got it "wrong" and let a dud go through. It takes a pretty high standard and good creativity and originality to make the short list cut, much less win. The cream of the crop will rise when everyone gets their say in what goes through. If Mr Bernham some of the entrants here feel they're getting a lot of heat for their designs, well, there's nothing stopping you going back to the drawing board and trying to develop your ideas further. You've got until the first day of 2015 till it's locked in. Posting here means you're going to be critiqued. It's up to you if you want to act on that critique or not. mr.bernham
I mean if it bothers everyone here so much (even though what I 'copied' was royalty free clip art), then I guess I will try and touch up the other Tokyo logo I made before doing the bird, I'll post it here to see what you all think. mr.bernham
The problem isn't the clip art being free. The problem is that you tried to pass it off as your own without telling us in your original post. Most original posts are used to promote the logo which mind you I did make it my own. When confronted by Scotguy as to whether or not I plagarized this is what I said, "I honestly have never seen those in my life, I did use a similar image and based my design off of it, but using origami in my logo was something I wanted to do from the beginning." Did I say I used it as a model in my original post, no, because most people do not put what the used to make their logo in their submission thread. Additionally I did not copy and paste the clip art, so why would I mention it? Had I copied and pasted it I would have said "hey everyone I copy and pasted clip art for the bird but the idea is completely mine.". But I did not copy and past and thus did not note I used various vector origami birds as models to make mine, specifically the one NZL posted. In retrospect I should have put a disclaimer and it is something I will do in the future, but in this situation I did not think modeling my logo off of a vector free bird on the internet would get so many peoples panties in a wad. mr.bernham
No special meaning here. It an "M" that forms a stylized shape of Australia. The sharp lines and edges remind me of the Melbourne Metro logo (personally one of my favorite metro logos in the world). And the Melbourne city logo:
mr.bernham
Here is my Melbourne submission, it is based on the Seafarers bridge and in an abstract way resembles mountains. The vibrant colors represent both the Olympics, but the vibrant multiculturalism and culture of the city and Australia. Additionally I have included a picture of the Flinders Street Station area during games time with the brand in use. The main color is blue in the brand because blue is a common winter or cold color and it is also the color of water to which Australia is closely tied to. I will note that it does look similar to a Chicago 2016 logo design that was based off of the bean in Chicago, but this was not my intention and the placement of the rings and wording on the logo is similar to what Barracks did with his. I did not realize this until after I made my logo. Still, enough chatter! Here is the logo:
