It is transmitted via Internet and expressionless channel TV audience Camara (legislative station ) and can be one of the three main themes of Twitter . I tousled with the lack of attention of my countrymen with the Olympic Games . The sponsors are flooding the TV, but the weather is still low . adrianme17
Podium = awful Medals Obverse = is as normal. I like that they that have used Portuguese of the XXXIst Olympiad & have positioned it differently to Athens - Beijing & London Medals Reverse = a bit of a let down & reminds me of Montreal '76 Medal Ribbon = beautiful & eyecatching Medal Uniforms = can't really see them - are they having men as the medal carriers & women as the medal escorts? Medal Tray = can't make out any detail on this Flowers = am assuming that they will be presenting these? Overall preferred London -Beijing & Athens & had expected more! phandrosis
They will give each Olympic medalist one of these... ...and every Paralympic medalist one of these.
gotosy
Rio 2016 reveals Olympic medals, celebrating nature and sustainability14/06/2016 — 15H36By Rio 2016Nearly 2,500 gold, silver and bronze medals produced according to strict sustainability criteria The medals feature laurel leaves, representing the link between the force of nature and Olympians (Photo: Rio 2016) With 52 days until the world’s best athletes go into battle for them, Rio 2016 and the Brazilian Mint have unveiled the medals for the Olympic Games. Bearing a design that celebrates the relationship between the strengths of Olympic heroes and the forces of nature, the 500g gold, silver and bronze medals have been made with sustainability at their heart. The athletes who top the podium in Rio will receive medals made from gold that is completely free of mercury and was produced according to strict sustainability criteria, from mining to the end product. The silver and bronze medals have been produced using 30 per cent recycled materials and the ribbons which will be used to hang the medals around athletes’ necks are made from 50 per cent recycled plastic bottles. The rounded cases that hold the medals were made from freijó wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). A total of 2,488 medals have been produced: 812 gold, 812 silver and 864 bronze. The designs feature laurel leaves – a symbol of victory in ancient Greece, in the form of the wreaths awarded to competition winners – surrounding the Rio 2016 Olympic logo. The laurel leaves represent the link between the force of nature and Olympians. According to Olympic Games tradition, the other side of the medals features an image of Nike, the Greek goddess of victory with the Panathinaiko Stadium and the Acropolis in the background. The Paralympic Games medals, which feature a special innovation, have also been revealed. They have a tiny device inside which make a noise when the medal is shaken, allowing visually impaired athletes to know if they are gold, silver or bronze (gold has the loudest noise, bronze the lowest). Also revealed at the event on Tuesday (14 June) at the Future Arena in Barra Olympic Park, were the podiums, which are made from organic materials and celebrate the tropical nature of Brazil. The podiums were designed to be reused as furniture after the Games. https://www.rio2016.com/en/news/rio-2016-reveals-olympic-medals-celebrating-nature-and-sustainability
baron-pierreIV
Eh. The medals are so uninspired. I don't like that pock-marked look. Who cares about the podia? They only stand on them. I think the ladies' presenters' outfits are very nice. Simple but with a little style to make them just a little interesting. The logo and the torch have so far, IMO, been the best designed elements of Rio 2016. Edited June 14, 2016 by baron-pierreIV

LDOG
I love the colored Tom dolls to be given to paralympic medalists, the sculptures are lame though. Why not Vinicius dolls?
brasilolimpico
Eu amo os bonecos Tom coloridas para ser dado a medalhistas paraolímpicos, as esculturas são coxos embora. Por que não bonecos Vinicius? Yes. The organizer always Comite with their ' different ' decisions , frankly ... want to be adventurous and end up in these ridiculous results. Oh , god! After Veloso , the torch that is black on top when on fire, medals , sculptures , which Rio booking now?

Oooswald
The medals seem very strange in the first photos. Maybe because they are screen shots and digital projections. But on the photos from the last post they look pretty good to me.
Bezzi
The medals are beautiful. I think our expectation that was too high after the innovative torch. But I believe the IOC has very strict rules now to prevent aberrations as Beijing and Rio 2007 medals.

But I believe the IOC has very strict rules now to prevent aberrations as Beijing and Rio 2007 medals. Correct. For the summer ones, one side has to have that image of Nike, the Goddes of Victory. The Winter Ones are more adventurous in terms of shapes and looks. Also, I don't see where they will engrave the athlete's name and Sports won (not unless it's on the edge)? brasilolimpico
Corrigir. I saw a picture where the sport is on the edge .

Victor Mata
Very brazilian-hipster. I swear I saw those outfits at the french cinema festival last sunday. I can even listen to the ukuleles and happy whistles. I like the change though.

Athan
I like the medals. They may look too simple at first sight, but I think that's much better than an overloaded design, and they don't look bad at all in the manufacturing photos posted by gotosy. I love the podium. Wood and grass make it look very tropical and Brazilian. And I also like the Toms with the colours of the medals that will be given to Paralympic winners. They're a very original bouquet! Scotguy
My favourite is still the podium from Sydney 2000
JMarkSnow2012
I want to unpeel the foil from the Paralympic medals and eat the chocolate-with-sesame-seeds inside, but I like the elegant garlands on the Olympic ones. The way the painted petals bleed off the edges of the podium irks me- but I suspect it would irk me less if the realistic 3D foliage along the front was absent. Among the uniforms, I prefer the full version with white stripes on the dress; in particular I think the shirt looks best under a jacket. JMarkSnow2012
The podium of the plants will be replanted after the awards . I'd prefer if they replanted it before the awards, with foliage more appropriate to the large-scale decoration of the podium.
