Rio 2016 Mascots

You got it mostly right.

It's OH-bah and EH-bah, as in portuguese the stressed syllabe is often the one before the last.

TI-bah TU-que and es-quin-DIM: the Us after the Qs are mute. An english spelling could be Tiba Tuk and Skindeen. This pair plays with many sounds and pronunciation varies a lot according to which brazilian accent you speak.

vee-NEE-seeush (if you're from Rio, Recife or Belém) or vee-NEE-seeus (if you're from everywhere else).

Perfect! Thank you very much!

Good to know my Portuguese reading skills are not that bad ^_^

Mmmmmm. Okay. I gotta admit it. They, or at least Not-Cat, is growing on me. Something almost Cobi-esque about him. Pineapplehead's still a bit of a worry, but at least he's irrelevant.

Rio's handled the mascot introduction well. And I like the way they've brought them into the pantheon by emphasising the tradition and their predecessors.

So far, I'd give Rio top marks in every aspect of how they've been building the games identity and look.

The branding and mascots are colourful, relaxed and fun- like Rio and Brazil. Lots of green (plants) and blue (water) - colours of their flag, which is fresh and lush after the metallics and garish pink/purple of London.

The imagery is much more accessible and friendly than London/Beijing or Athens.

I like London's branding and I think Athens did a great job in using their brand to exploit the city, but Rio is simply fun and vibrant.

Rio is doing a MUCH better job than London did at how they launch things. From the logo reveal in Copacbana to the way they've done the mascots by bringing together the old gang, I've got to say it's been more impressive than London's various bland launch events and press releases.
