The Mascot will be the bird of paradise While The Logo will be based to the number "18" marking the 18th edition of the games. The Logo will have many variations in terms of design and colors in the number with a layer in the 8 which refers to the Indonesian unity in diversity. The Flame which represents the never ending spirit from all the Indonesian athletes and people. and The Torch that comes from the National Monument (Monas) that keep on burning through the times. I don't know if these leaks are true or false, but if it is true... It's somehow remind me of this... Oh, I now see why Indonesia has insisted on hosting them in 2018. Not because of the elections but because "18th" Asian Games dovetails very neatly into 2018. That's why. It would look misaligned if it were 18th Asian Games in 2019. tikus_kecil Posted September 9, 2015 Report Share Posted September 9, 2015 The logo is inspired by Cendrawasih, the endemic bird from Papua, actually there is no long story behind the logo, it just to spread the Asian games to Indonesian, since the main host city is Jakarta, and the support cities are in Palembang, Bandung, and Banten provinces, all the locations are in West Indonesia, so they choose Cendrawasih as the representation from East Indonesia. He said the logo above is temporary and we going to launch it with the President.. And the Indonesians are actually good listeners, the problem is some of them hear it but don't care about it... First, The official name of the games is actually changed to "18th Asian Games Jakarta-Palembang 2018". Second, The bird-of-paradise will become the logo as well as the mascot of the games. Third, Indonesia will host the Asian Youth Games in 2017 as the test event. And Lastly, Jakarta will host both the opening and the closing ceremony for the games.
