Is that so? Those numbers sound a lot like Beijing 2008, or at least Olympic ceremonies before Sochi took a crap on everything and forced everyone to downgrade costs.

I kind of imagined this was going to be pretty big considering they're already setting up the stage this early, when we still have more than two months to go. I'm intrigued to see what they do, given Indonesia's rich culture.

What other works have Wishnutama and the production team done? Correct me if i'm wrong but Ric Birch is working as a consultant for this ceremony, right?

More info from that insta post : The stage is as heavy as 600 tons, it's length is 135m, width 30m, tall 26m. It will have more than 12775 plants and flowers in a 1350m2 sized stage. There's also a waterfall with 140000 liters of water flowing in it. And surrounding it there will be 3000m2  of grass. There will be projector and lighting tech used in it.. And there's a 50m hidden tunnel as a feature to support performers' movement This is an effort from 350 Indonesians that will be finished in 3 months after all 175 manually crafted parts from Bandung and Jakarta are assembled.. And btw the ceremony itself will focus on Indonesia cultures and scenery..

If I’m blogging the Asiad, what are some backstories (regarding the athletes) I can follow?

There is an 81 year old from Malaysia competing in Bridge and a 9 year old skateboarder from Indonesia.
