To be fair, the Celtic Park PA system played Australian rock legends AC/DC's "Back In Black" and a Men At Work "Down Under" dance remix sandwiching between Lorde's "Royals" while the Australians marched. Maybe the people involved with the music sequence in the Parade didn't realize Ella Yelich-O'Connor is actually Kiwi, even though NZ is referred to as "down under" at times too. And that Kiwis could get upset over it.

Australia always swipes our stuff and claims ownership of it...;)

Watched the OC again and yeah the second time around it does look messy with those Unicef breaks in it.

DAY THREE...

Some Shockers :(

Mix Triathalon, going so well for the team in Silver position behind might England (who burnt everyone off) untill Ryan Sissans totally fudged the Bike/Run transition by not paying attention to what he was doing and overshooting the NZ Bikestand by ten meters and having to backtrack around and start his run...losing four places into 5th for NZ. ...With the end of the Tri Team's CWGs, there will be some stern words by Sports NZ over the results as funding for 2016 was hanging on at least one medal...they couldnt even achieve that.

In the Netball the Silver Ferns beat Scotland 86-14 in a game that ended up being an atrocious display of slack ball handling by NZ towards the end and the look on Wai Tamanu's face pretty much summed up her anger and what would be a few sore backsides in the changing room after.

The Sevens team ended up a Fives team having a rare collapse of usually strict discipline with two players sin-binned in the NZL - SCO game and very lucky to run the clock down with a reasonable points buffer. Sir Gordon suitably unimpressed.

BUT! Elsewhere!...:)

GOLD - Tom Scully Cycling 40km Points Race

Silver - Simon van Velthooven Cycling 1000m Time Trials

Bronze - Aaron Gate Cycling 40km Points Race

Bronze - Matt Archibald Cycling 1000m Time Trials

Bronze - Tim Slyfield & Jason Koster Judo 100kg class

Valerie Adams has retained her Gold at the Glasgow CWGs, with the honor of winning New Zealands 600th CWGs medal, and allowing the Gold tally at Glasgow to pass Manchester 2002. This woman is now NZs greatest ever Track and Field Athlete and really is worthy of being flag bearer and team captain. It's well known that the team aspires to her standards and Valerie is the inspiration to all up and commers. Long may she reign, at least untill 2018! :)

A quiet day for NZ, one of each medals won. But with some important Athletics and team sports qualifying done for the last few days to come.

Also about where NZ slips down the medal table as the Athletics Track events come down to finals and the high speed countries cash in on the tin.

:)

I much prefer the positivity of this thread as opposed to my own country... I was negative when Canada was down earlier in the week but we've done super strong in the last few days and I'm proud of that, but there seems to be a lot of negative dwelling on what we haven't done or the fourth place finishes.

I'm so glad to see NZL is having one of their best games ever. Its really coming on the heels of what was a fabulous Olympic Games in London. So it really is awesome to see them following up with a very strong Commonwealth Games.

Day Nine looks to be a quiet one on the medal front, if any...But a big day for qualifications in some finals positions...Hopefully something in the athletic track events could give some tin.

Government announced today that funding will be increased and reprofiled to sports that show promise for Rio, which is a polite term for telling Triathalon NZ they're losing funding for failing to medal. IMO, deserved. Overall the government and country in general sre very happy with our medal haul. Just need to get past Manchester's total haul.

:( Our first medal drought day...and some sad defeats...the dreaded penalty shoot out in the woman's hockey v England saw us knocked out of the semi's. And some close but no cigar moments on the track and field. Never mind.

:) But still hope for mens boxing with a bronze/bronze guaranteed (no silver in boxing finals) and at least something in the hockey and netball on the last two days as well as hope for something in the men's 1500.
