Can't wait for the Opening Ceremony where they will use fire trucks or bulldozers to lead in the Nations!  LOL!!   Edited July 29, 2016 by baron-pierreIV
daveypodmore 520
I hope the country name rotates as the cyclist moves. Very colourful
Conor15 21
Well, Rio is a vibrant city so why go for something boring when you can add a splash of liveliness and color to the ceremony?
adrianme17 127
christ alive the placard bearers look like a prop for "it's a knock out" in the 1980's - awful!

Ikarus360 602
Uh, those are certainly very different and quaint placards. Very colorful indeed but those have to be the weirdest ones i've seen in Olympics since Albertville Also I have a feeling those olympic rings made out of grass we saw on some pics days ago are related to those plant-carrying tricycles. My guess is they will start to slowly take them out as the countries arrive and progressively form the olympic rings (maybe as a symbol of all 5 continents being gathered slowly in Rio and the rings only being completed when all nations have arrived).

Ikarus360 602
A brief look at the previous placard bearers Albertville 1992 Barcelona 1992 Atlanta 1996 Sydney 2000 Athens 2004 Torino 2006 Beijing 2008 Vancouver 2010 London 2012 Sochi 2014 Â Also, these were the ones used for the 2007 Pan Am Games

You're right.  THat's why they have all that junk in the back -- to deposit them in the center of the avenue to make the 5 rings. Ikarus360 602
The negativity of people on the SSC thread is so hysterical is almost cute. You can tell the trauma of the dreadful 2014 WC opening is still instilled in their minds.
