JMarkSnow2012
Majority of the cinematography in London sucked. True in a sense. The London ceremony was the first to be designed specifically as a stadium entertainment incorporating elements aimed at TV, rather than a TV spectacle which happened to be taking place in a stadium (or a display of mass synchronisation like Berlin 1936). It wasn't a wholly successful experiment, but it'll be interesting to see if Brazil, also using gritty cinema specialists for its Opening Ceremony, will attempt an improved version using lessons learned from 2012. Mauricio
Majority of the cinematography in London sucked. I can't agree with you, Anthony. Had you sad that London OC was a way behind the expectation, then, I would say, yes, for sure it was. They could have presented a really great OC. But, when it comes to the movies, they surpassed any expectation. Unforgetable ones.

Well, JMark Snow2012, Most of Brazilian movie directors are a disaster. It seems they want to reinvent the wheel. They act as if they were writing a letter to mankind in each scene. Few of them could be considered good movie makers. Do not expect too much.

Brazilian cinema is unimpressive , some movies are successful here ... most related to romantic comedy ( produced by GLOBE FILMS ) or the classic ' Elite Squad ' which is not suitable for OC . My fear is that they bet on Brazilian clichés that has not surprising elements , is poor in resources and decoration and predictable. The presentation of Brazil in London Closing was ridiculous . There was a moment whether it deserved , congratulations. There was only moments 'Ok'.
Ikarus360
Blargh. Terrible song, no offense but this was awful. You know despite the criticism i did liked Muse song for the London games. It was a very powerful song and broke the molds/stereotypes of the typical cheesy/peace in the world/love and friendship songs the Olympics always tend to use, and focused in the athletes and their struggle which are the real protagonists of this event. This one lyrics also have some of it but the composition falls bland and repetitive in comparison to Survive.

Yes maybe. These films are inexpressive in Brazil. But we do not need ' Great Works ' if they are not comprehensive . The audience of 3 billion people is large and very diverse , it has to be something you stop the ' mass of people ' .
brasilolimpico
https://youtu.be/i-qO1AfdbmY?t=49s Above the video of ' Olympic Rings' Closing in Sochi . Among all the elements of the closing ceremony , that was not the most spectacular . Detail that human ring was formed at the end , usually " less pompous ' . Something of this kind in the OC 2016 , far behind the last olympic rings, at least back to the issues of the past century.

Ikarus360
Lol, I actually liked quite some Brazilian movies and many stuff they've done, though almost all brazilians i've met are always on self-hate mode and ranting how their country is not that awesome. I sometimes wonder what killed the fun. Or maybe we were just led to believe there was fun at all? Either way, i'll try to enjoy whatever comes out in the opening ceremony for what it is. You see, we've been so exposed to our negative points that we came to forget the good ones. And the country is simply fantasttic, our people - and I mean those of the lowest social leves - is unbeatable in facing difficulties, in facing every challenge they are put to. We are a great people. I'm sure the OC will be successful in showing our country and our nation the way they are. The wat we are.

So, here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFGCIkUcGtM I'm not surprised that this awful song is the official one... Nowadays, most of the songs are terrible!!!!! brasilolimpico
The Rio Games will be great . The stadiums are beautiful (minus the Olympic Park). The ceremony I do not think it will be good , will look back, do not know if it is lack of money, the issue of the stadium or by the creativity. But I have no expectations for the opening . There are people paying expensive tickets in the opening and billions watching on TV, not enough to be good ... it has to be amazing . Nacholympic
We have exactly one month to go.... And little, almost nothing we know aabout the ceremonies.. what tells us that they have known to keep the secret perfectly. Four years ago, for London ceremonies,we already knew some key parts: the countryside beggining, the Industrial revolution section, the participations of James Bond and Mr. Bean and the NHS tribute... Now we know... nothing!!!!! So far, the #KeepTheSurprise has been too successful!!!!

brasilolimpico
Change of plans : Dilma will have exclusive box in the OC. At a meeting at the Planalto Palace , a change in the opening of the Olympics it was decided. President Dilma will be in a box for her own , separate from the honor box where Temer and other heads of state will stay . The initial idea would be to put Dilma with former presidents. To prevent this act was seen as embarrassing decided on the box , which however will have a smaller size than the grandstand . The placeholder for Dilma will have no connection to the Temer. Interim President Dilma thinks has the right to go to the ceremony , but want to avoid to meet with her to avoid embarrassment . Dilma's cabin will be one floor below used by Temer. http://oglobo.globo.com/brasil/dilma-tera-camarote-exclusivo-na-abertura-da-olimpiada-do-rio-19649451
