It is a fact that alternative.
But it would be a major break in the Olympic tradition ( the latest games have broken some ) .
I think it would be better something like the organization tell the athletes :
' Okay, guys ! Run inspired by Bolt '

Instead of limiting athletes, how about not allowing coaches and other non-athlete personnel to walk with the athletes? That should bring down the amount of people walking into the stadium by a few hundred or more. Also let's not forget not all 10k+ athletes that compete at the Olympics arrive at the start of the games since their events don't start until days, or perhaps a week after the OC. And there are a good number of athletes who don't walk in the parade of nations because they have competitions the very next day.

They already set a limit of 40 non-athlete personnel per team in the parade, back in 2012. I'm not sure it's fair to ban them all, particularly as we have a trainers' oath.

A ' parade of athletes ' 2 hours certainly concerned television stations .

The public most often want to see only the delegation of his country parade , of course , Greece and other countries to open the parade are always seen as people are not tired .

I bet the audience here in Brazil will swing down for much of the parade of athletes.

You'll probably win that bet.

In 2012, NBC had a 12.2/42 Neilsen rating in the advertiser-friendly 18-49-year-old age group at 8pm (and around 42.53 million viewers in total); that rose to 13.3/42 by 8:30 (45.73 million; the show proper having started around 8:20), then slipped just a little to 13.3/40 at 9pm (45.2 million). 12.3/36 by 9:30 (the pop music section- 41.22 million viewers); 11.7/33 by 10pm (38.58 million viewers for the first part of the athletes' parade); a mere 28.28 million by 10:30 (somewhere in the nations beginning with S). That's the last primetime half-hour figure available, but the rating for the full show 8pm-midnight was 12.4/38 in 18-49-year-olds and 23.0/40 over all age-groups (41.92 million) which implies that a lot of viewers came back from about the U nations onward.

This time will be different.

Until the letter E will have a public good, then will plummet.

States will probably come before the parade get 35%, Britain around the middle.

The United States is treated in the Portuguese alphabet as: 'ESTADOS UNIDOS DA AMÉRICA'

I am wondering about the new moto presented by Rio: A New World. It has been said the OC will have an emphasis on some current world issues like immigration, diversity and things like that. Someone has said the OC will deal with these subjects or try to do that meanwhile showing Brazil's history. Should we expect any refferences to characters like Iracema and Martim, Princess Isabel and Zumbi? Also, is it likely to talk about let's say Garibaldi and Anita, Estácio de Sá and Araribóia?

Garibaldi is a little known character in Brazil, his fame very limited in Rio Grande do Sul.
Now we speak of His Imperial Highness Princess Isabel, is required. If we play in the history of slavery or is spoken of Brazil Empire (1822-1889) have to talk about it.

I agree. But the as whole world knows almost nothing about Brazil too... I really think the same Her Imperial Highness, actually Her Royal and Imperial Highness. Another thing to show to the world: there is an Imperial Family in Brazil.

rehearsals BTW (In Portuguese)

Debora's speech:

"“I had never worked with so many people…But it doesn´t scare me. On the contrary, I love people. Working with people is the way we have to be different, because each person is different. We have huge segments, for example the one we call “Metropolises Geometrization”. This segment talks about the occupation of this place. Who lived here? The Indians. And, then, how did people arrive here? Who came here? Portuguese people, European people. And after that, who else came in? Then we talk about the occupation of this place. The work of the volunteers is very important for we have so many groups, Asian people, Arab people, European people, the Indigenous…Working with volunteers is inspiring for me, because, sometimes you are in a box. Professional dancers, they do everything just right. And sometimes, sometime it is not, it is another way. I think they (the audience) can expect from me is, I brought in some researches. Some of them are new and I’m very proud of myself. There are so many new things I’ve been finding out here, totally unexpected ones. I think this is what is going to happen here. Can I tell? We are going to present the best Opening Ceremony in history.”

Well, how about "Atletas del Equipo Olympico de Refugees"?

Interesting that they are being given the "second-hand cheer" slot right before the host nation. I wonder if they'll get their own cheer too.

And the visuals show, presumably, the cast of a single scene including around 250 with bibs marked "PIL", around 60 "ARB", and maybe 25 "ASN"....

/\/\ In other words, the same as this ...

[sydney 2000: Arrivals]

And indeed with echoes of the first part of "Pandemonium"- but the Geometrization suggests a new angle on the topic. ^_^
