Faster Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Predictions? Thoughts? Favoured upset? Colombia Netherlands Belgium Unless Germany reverts to a 4-2-3-1 they are screwed against France and Low looks to be too stubborn to change. You have Grosskreutz on the bench and a perfectly good fullback playing where Khedira or Schweinsteiger should be playing. I am not making a prediction because I don't want to pick and either be disappointed I'm right or be wrong and have no faith. Colombia and Brazil have both played less than stellar opposition but Colombia has bent all opponents to their will. Brazil has done it to Cameroon. Wouldn't put it past Brazil to win, but Colombia is at their peak of performance. Without Gustavo (who would be the one responsible for Martinez and Rodriguez) Brazil is in trouble. Tight game but 1-0 Colombia. Colombia and France are the only teams that look like they want to win this thing. What they lack in overall class they can make up for as being a better team (Brazil 2002, France 1998 are prime examples) It is Costa Rica. I don't think there will be a repeat of Croatia, Korea or Turkey this time. Dutch are too good. I'm sorry, I love Robben. Can't help the Bayern bias. Belgium has a better back 5 than Argentina and Hazard is due for a great game. Lukaku dominated in the 30 minutes against the USA and Romero is not Howard. Belgium has the class in Lukaku, Hazard, Origi and de Bruyne to take the chances the Swiss missed.
baron-pierreIV Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 It's going to be an all D(e)utsch (Holland v. Allegmane) finals.
StefanMUC Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Brazil France Netherlands Argentina With Brazil going on to win the Cup. It has to happen.
Citius Altius Fortius Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 My predictions for the semi-finals:Colombia vs. Germany Costa Rica vs. Belgium
StefanMUC Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 My predictions for the semi-finals: Colombia vs. Germany Costa Rica vs. Belgium That would be fun! My neighbour is half-German, half-Colombian. He already said: "I would win either way :D"
thorbr Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Brazil x France Argentina x Holland ... Brazil x Argentina ... Brazil
Citius Altius Fortius Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Brazil x Argentina ... Brazil LOL - Neymar won't be able to hold a candle for our football god Messi It's time for another 'Maracanaço 2014', but this time it is our turn
thorbr Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 LOL - Neymar won't be able to hold a candle for our football god Messi It's time for another 'Maracanaço 2014', but this time it is our turn In your dreams lol

zekekelso Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 I predict the USMNT will make it to the semis. Yes, I'm in denial
DannyelBrazil Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Brazil vs. France Argentina vs. Netherlands Brazil vs. Netherlands Brazil champions
Athan Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Very tight matches in the round of 16 but not a single upset... I'll be rooting for Colombia, France, Costa Rica and Belgium in the quarter-finals.
Citius Altius Fortius Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 It is funny how most of you deny that Argentina will win the World Cup... 1st reason: we have football god Messi 2nd reason: who is Neymar? 3rd reason: the Brazilian Selecao will fail due the immense pressure of the Brazilans to win the title 4th reason: did I have already mentioned Messi? No? Messi!!!! 5th reason: where is Belgium anyway? 6th reason: well, our c'cks are much larger than this little wiener at the Manneke Pis statue, which they have in Brussels.... 7th reason: you don't need to mention the Netherlands or the Ticos either 8th reason: I shouldn't forget to mention that Messi is the best football player of the world - runner up is of course Maradona
thorbr Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Very tight matches in the round of 16 but not a single upset... I'll be rooting for Colombia, France, Costa Rica and Belgium in the quarter-finals. There's no Spain to root for, isn't it?
zekekelso Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 They have large clocks in Argentina??? Trouble telling time?
Alexjc Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 This whole tournament is set up for a Brazil v Argentina final. It's just that Brazil is trying to get there the hard way! I'm backing the hosts, France, Costa Rica, and Argentina.
gotosy Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 FIFA has announced the referees for saturday`s matches Argentina v Belgium: Nicola Rizzoli from Italy Netherlands v Costa Rica: Ravshan Irmatov from Uzbekistan FIFA
Ikarus360 Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Yeah, a god who's obviously passing through a very hard moment, after being overexploited for many years by FC Barcelona. ._. I mean, I also prefer Argentina over Brazil but they have to do something better than that crap against Switzerland or else Belgium is going to pull a big surprise.
DannyelBrazil Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Yeah, a god who's obviously passing through a very hard moment, after being overexploited for many years by FC Barcelona. ._. To be fair Brazil also must do something better than what we witnessed so far...
reindeer Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 At this stage experience and history start to matter more than before, so it should be Holland, Argentina and Brazil making it through to semis. Ger-Fra is trickier though, their World Cup pedigrees being closest to each other among the QF pairs. Also no country has ever reached the semifinals four times in a row and France has had the habit of a successful tournament every eight years followed by a dismal failure.
LDOG Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 Belgium has a better back 5 than Argentina and Hazard is due for a great game. Lukaku dominated in the 30 minutes against the USA and Romero is not Howard. Belgium has the class in Lukaku, Hazard, Origi and de Bruyne to take the chances the Swiss missed. Great analysis dude, focussing only on Belgium's strong points and Argentina's weaknesses And well, for me the only real class player in that back 5 is Company (by back 5 you mean defenders + CDM or the goalie?). Still better than our defense, but has looked far from solid to me. I personally think Belgium is an opponent that suits Argentina's style much more that the overly defensive likes of Iran, Switzerland, etc. with more spaces to run (sth we only had against Nigeria so far) our attackers are deadly. We struggle to be creative when the opponent let's us take completely the initiative, but Belgium won't do that, I'm pretty sure. And yeah, Romero is not Howard, but the rest of the team ain't the same level of USA... Belgium won't be able to shoot 16 freaking times again, so they better be clinical this time around. We can very well lose to them, of course, but I think Belgium will have more than one headache in this match.
LDOG Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 It's time for another 'Maracanaço 2014' Tips for a better Argentine characterization: write MaracanaZo in your native language, not the enemy's
Gangwon Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 Colombia, Belgium and France have looked good but they haven't faced quality opposition yet. There should be some great games but I'm predicting Brazil, Germany, Netherlands and Argentina.
Sagacious Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 Argentina's defense isn't that bad, my only worry is about the finishing. Barring Messi, all others looked ordinary so far.
