With projected independence being in 2016 it is far too tight for an independent Scottish team to compete. The IOC would have to break a hell-of-a-lot of rules to do it. I would think the most likely scenario is a unified team with England, Wales and Northern Ireland one last time.

Wonder how much of this recent rise of nationalist agendas has to do with the incompetent, faceless and aimless EU decision making leading to a will of taking the matters into own hands at local level?

In this particular case, they want to remain within the EU. The argument seems to be more about the way London is sucking the life (literally, in terms of population, as well as economically and culturally) from the rest of the UK. Whether Scottish independence would, ironically, lead to a diaspora of talented youth as in Ireland, is a question nobody can yet answer.

Either way, it's a Scottish decision for Scottish people.

He got his arse torn a new one though...and then Inverclyde came in at near neck and neck but NO is still ahead...early days but Yes needs to pick up a couple of biggies.

The trend is NO so far.

Dundee turns the vote on it's head 57% YES to 43% No, on a low 79% turn out...compared to others, and this is one of the larger urban areas. The first Yes council area.

Still trending No but Glasgow still to come.

Following coverage here in Australia and for a few hours it was around 42% yes 58% no. Now it's saying 49% yes 51% no. So is the margin getting closer?? Or is our coverage wrong/behind?

Dundee just had a huge Yes margin, something like 30,000 more voted yes. That just brought it much closer.

Stirling with a huge NO count 60% v Yes 40%.

Huge 90% turnout.

Falkirk NO 53% v Yes 47% at 89% turnout.

These are the big margin councils now comming in. Still Glasgow and Edinburgh to come.

Glasgow. 53%YES v 47% No, on a low 75% turnout...Very much all over for Yes, this was the critical city and needed a far higher % result for Yes. This hasn't happened.

The United Kingdom is definitely safe. The Yes vote simply cannot catch the NO vote even with Edinburgh still to come.

Dumfries just gave the most resounding No so far. Not surprising given its location.

Scottish Borders has the highest now

It still is really close and most of the red areas are closer to the border, we still have nine more councils.
