The Hockey World Cup is getting full coverage here in New Zealand on Sky Sports, a nice lead up to the FIFA WC.

I don't rate the men's chances but I do the women's. They were fourth at the Olympics but like all women in groups, win if the mood takes them.

I do like the no nonsense approach to the pools and general organizationcof this event.

No favoritism, just hard out slog. Though I do think the NZ Women Black Sticks do have a tough one. More the fact the teams in jt ard so good. Gives us a tast of what is to come in Glasgow and more so in Rio.

The mens Black Sticks, well anything is likely.

A good start for both NZ teams, but winning is essential for both. Real big games still to come.

Some good results here, but there are still some really big matches to come. NZ mens better enjoy the moment while NZ women had a reality check.

NZ v Argentina tonight...mens

This will be good, surprisingly the NZ woman have to now win every match after losing again...Netherlands just too good.

Half time in NZ v Argentina 0-0. Very lethargic start but temperature warming up. Should be a ripper 2nd half.

And as predicted...the second half exploded, all Argentina's way.

I've had my predictions for our NZ teamz completely turned on it's head...I was expecting the womens to do well, they are now all but out. While the mens still have a chance!

Well NZ is pretty much out of this competition now after the mens team were demolished by Germany 5-3, they have one more match with Netherlands and must win to have a chance on points aggregate, hoping other teams have points drop.

UNLESS they are sandbagging for next month...

Still...they do take some sizeable funding off SportNZ, lets just hope the CWGs are what is the plan.

I would be surprised if they were sandbagging to be honest. I certainly expect both the mens and womens team to medal at the commonwealth games next month.
