olympiaki-agones
I hope the Chinese would't spoiled those games as the Russian did with the WOG. It seems these YOG will be quite expensive.

DamC
Same in France, free-to-air sports channel L'Equipe 21 picked up the rights, which is great news. It's more visibility than the Mediterranean or Francophonie Games ever got.

gotosy
International Skateboarding Federation Selected By The International Olympic Committee To Showcase Skateboarding During The Youth Olympic GamesLos Angeles, CA (July 24, 2014) – The International Skateboarding Federation (ISF) is announcing that they have been selected by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to showcase skateboarding aside the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China from August 17-27 as part of the Nanjing 2014 Sports Lab. The ISF is producing two daily Street and Vert skateboard exhibitions featuring international athletes such as Renton Millar (Australia) and Leticia Bufoni (Brazil) and is excited to leave the concrete skatepark at the conclusion of the Games for the long-term enjoyment of the Nanjing community. “We’re honored that the IOC has chosen the International Skateboarding Federation to present world-class skateboarding on such a global stage as well as in front of the Olympic leadership,” said Gary Ream, President of the ISF. “We’re appreciative of the support given to the ISF from nearly every corner of the international skate community as we show the unique excitement that skateboarding offers and also that we may leave the skatepark as a legacy for area skateboarders and kids that we are able to turn on to skateboarding.” Late in 2013, IOC President Thomas Bach presented the ISF with this unique opportunity. For the past decade, the ISF has established partnerships with more than 80 member countries and engaged the world skateboarding community as to how best steward skateboarding’s growth at the international level, while protecting the sport’s unique culture of creativity and self-expression. ... http://www.internationalskateboardingfederation.com/news/20-international-skateboarding-federation-selected-by-the-international-olympic-committee-to-showcase-skateboarding-during-the-youth-olympic-games

gotosy
Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games medal unveiled! ©Nanjing 2014 07/08/2014 It’s what all the athletes going to the Youth Olympic Games are dreaming of, the Nanjing 2014 medal, and today we can reveal what this piece of precious metal looks like! The pictures show the cast medal in its gold, silver and bronze forms. One side (face A) is the winning design of 23-year-old Matej Čička from Slovakia, whose creation entitled “Track of Winners” won the International Olympic Committee’s Medal Design Competition earlier this year, chosen from a pool of 300 entries from all over the world. Described as “modern, fresh and dynamic” by the panel of judges including Olympians and famous designers, Majej’s abstract design and distinctive shape represent the winning athletes and the podium. Created by the Nanjing 2014 organisers, face B is inspired by the landscape of Nanjing’s historical city, combining the ancient city wall gate, traditional architecture of the region, the Qinhaui River and Nanjing’s famous plum blossoms. The Nanjing 2014 organisers’ goal was to create a design that works in harmony with Majej’s while demonstrating the simple, vivid and youthful characteristics of the host city.
