msp2032 0
There was some discussion about cutting women's hockey from the Winter Games because of concerns of lack of competition!! I wonder if maybe they should consider eliminating women's basketball. The US Women have won the last five golds. There is not reason to believe that they won't win a 6th straight one in Rio. I wonder with the lopsided games, I wonder if some players on the other teams when they play the US are not giving their best effort? The lack of competition is ridiculous!! The fans deserve a tournament that is fun and exciting. Not a lopsided affair each time!! At least the US NBA team's games are more competive now!!
StefanMUC 688
The IOC is aiming for gender balance in the Games. So: Not gonna happen.

baron-pierreIV 1693
While we're at it, drop T&F too. Edited February 27, 2014 by baron-pierreIV
Quaker2001 1254
While we're at it, drop T&F too. What sports should they keep then? And don't say they should add ballroom dancing
TorchbearerSydney 248
Just to add to your point, the US and Australia have won 2 of 3 medals on offer at the last 5 Games.....but not going to get dropped though. The US has been beaten at World Champs level a few times recently, so they are not invincible!
micheal_warren 206
If you cut womens Basketball, mens basketball will need to go as well. Its about gender balance.
intoronto 650
Men's and women's basketball has one good team which is almost unstoppable (the USA) and then after that the field has a few competitive teams. So it shouldn't be dropped.
Durban Sandshark 155
Definitely one of the more popular women's team sports. Shouldn't be dropped for already with a decent amount of competitive teams and gender equity committments. Furthermore, there was even some talk of expanding the field to 16 teams in both for Rio. Didn't materialize there.
