baron-pierreIV
Forget about your "reserved seats" in many sports. You are NOT going to get them. http://www.examiner.com/article/many-fans-will-not-stand-for-new-open-seating-rule-at-rio-olympics-stadiums Some of the best competition at 2016 Summer Olympics events may very well be in the stands. TheRio Olympics Organizing Committee admitted yesterday to several of its client groups that general admission seating will be instituted at numerous venues during the Summer Games, according to anInside The Games story. Boxing, rugby, archery, table tennis and weightlifting are among those sports that will have first-come, first-served seating.
runningrings
"Several of the client groups that had General Admission" - thats really not that much of a big deal - especially for some of the smaller sports in smaller venues, its quite manageable. Read it in detail. As an example -- if you're in the first come-first served section, if you leave to get some snacks or go to the bathroom w/o someone holding your seat, it's not going to be yours when you get back. It still changes the Olympic experience...which is supposed to be special. Now, it's ordinary.
Hobart
i am a little worried about this for hockey and rugby both events are quite long. As a single traveller i wont leave a bag on my seat to go get a snack or go to toilet. Guess i will need to stock up on food and drink befor even and take an empty bottle if needed. Stock up on some Olympic pins or such, so you can reward the strangers around you whom you make friends with; after you get away for a few minutes. Victor Mata
I'm sure they'll doing this to pack people in front of the cameras so the venues of unpopular sports in Brazil won't look empty. On the other hand, how much food do you people need during a sports session?

Because of that, I will have to skip the men's marathon having ticket for the Boxing Finals that day. It was very tight for me to travel from the Sambodromo to Barra but doesnt care with reserved seat. Now, I'm in trouble. (I tought I wiil see my first marathon in five summer Olympics I attend. I will have to wait for Tokyo in 2020)

Chateau Petrus
Was in line at 12h00 and got number 528 on the waiting line 17 minutes later I was in. Was surprised to see CC available and also a lot of Track Cycling No Rowing and Swimming for me Only thing I grab is a men basketball ticket (knowing that I will see USA since they release the schedule)

zekekelso
Not only did they have CC tickets, they had class B, C or D tickets. I've seen closing tickets before, but never in the cheaper categories. As for basketball, just a guess, but I'd go for the late game tickets if I wanted the best chance at seeing team USA. Or if you really want to see team USA, get tickets for both the middle and late game. Again, just a guess, but I don't see them putting the US in the early game. Chateau Petrus
FIBA allready announced the dates USA will play their preliminary round match : August 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th and 14th But the time of the day isn't confirmed yet There's three game per day one in the afternoon, one at 19h00 (finishing at 20h45) and one at 22h30 (finishing ah 00h15) It's sure that USA won't play the afternoon match to be prime time on TV for the american market. Then, choice of 19h00 and 22h30 Swimming Finals start at 22h00 So, All the USA Basketball games should be at 19h00

For the other days, I agree with Petrus, US don t play afternoon matchs.
gotosy
Sale of 700 black market Olympics tickets halted by Brazilian police Brazilian police have broken up a black-market ring that tried to illegally sell more than 700 Olympic tickets at exorbitant prices, authorities said on Tuesday. Rio’s police, with the help of the local Olympic committee, busted 10 people involved in the scam. The suspects bought the tickets legally, then used social media sites in an attempt to illegally resell them, said Donovan Ferreti, head of ticket sales for Rio 2016, as the local committee is known. “In one case, a ticket was sold for 10 times the original price from our site,” Ferreti said. The illegally sold tickets had been blocked and cannot be used, he added. Ferreti would not detail the sales prices of the illegal tickets, nor the events that they were for, but did say they were for sports that were in “high demand”. ... http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/apr/05/olympic-games-rio-2016-ticket-ring-black-market

I was going to guess the last game of the day BK056 only because it is at 9:15 pm ET. But, Then I checked there is the women's beach volleyball Final at 9:00 pm ET. Pretty sure NBC will air the Final. By the way, Do you still have the extra bedroom available in Barra?
