Apple Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 I'll release the full bid book later. But for now I'll post the logo and introduction to my bid. Bobby Robinson, founder of the British Empire Games, brought in the 1930 British Empire Games in Hamilton that launched the Games in the 20th Century, holding the 2018 Games in Hamilton will help the Commonwealth Game expand and grow in the 21st Century. We have much to share with our fellow Commonwealth countries. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2018. 'Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam, Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home; A charm from the sky seems to hallow us there, Which, seek through the world, is ne'er met with elsewhere. Home, home, sweet, sweet home! There's no place like home, oh, there's no place like home! John Howard Payne

Aronious Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 Jury Still out on Hamilton, Competitor rates bid highly Perth envies Hamilton’s 2018 Commonwealth document. Although rivals, the West Australian capital believes Hamilton will be the bid to beat. “The bid is presentable, well thought out and effective” “Although substantial, we do see problems” “There venue plan seems to have a few holes, particularly in the Basketball competition” “Basketball, since being introduced in 2006 has been a key sport at the Games and we don’t want to see the event ruined in 2018” “We believe, thus far, Perth has the best plans for the sport, without taking anything from Hamilton” None-the-less, people all around the globe are now talking of Hamilton, the city to beat, that seems to be a head of the pack.
Apple Posted March 19, 2006 Author Report Posted March 19, 2006 Hamilton 2018 approves Morush and Associates design for Hamilton’s Commonwealth Stadium.
Apple Posted March 19, 2006 Author Report Posted March 19, 2006 Hamilton's 2018 Aquatic Centre will not be held at McMaster University instead at Hamilton's West Harbourfront. Decided it's best to link the Commonwelath Stadium with the Aquatic Centre. Instead of tearing down Ivor Wynne Stadium aka Civic Stadium I decided to keep it preserved and hold the soccer compeition. It will be special since Ivor Wynne Stadium is the Commonwealth Games first stadium built. I got the idea from Athens 2004 with Panathinaiko Stadium. So instead of marathon it will be soccer at Ivor Wynne Stadium. Another special part of Hamilton's 2018 bid is the lawn bowling competition. It's being proposed at Queen Victoria Park at Niagara Falls which is literally steps away from Niagara Falls. That would be magnificent when watching the competition on television.
