Faster
i was thinking that too. imagine being out before the OC. well, maybe they get to stay and have some of that easy infamous hot bod olympic village sex. oh man, a canadian is starting to snowboard right now. you can hear it in their amped-up voices. twice a decade you guys maddeningly manage to drop that inferiority complex of yours for two weeks. also, i'm loving all the lingo being tossed around. apparently, it hasn't changed much since 1998 when i was an absolute fiend at cool boarders 2 (it was all about cindy, btw) doing my japan 1080 backsides. I was thinking back to that game too
ScholaOsloensis
dtd2, Lol.., local commentators said 4, but I checked online and read everything from 4 to 6 to 8. I think it might be 4.., so my guess 29 male snowboarders. 4 from each heat today through to final and 4 among the 21 that didn't qualify today in the semifinals.., totalling 12. Btw, Nicholls is through for GB. That's cool.
dtd2
Someone just told the OBS commentator that everything he has been saying is wrong. Top 4 qualify for final and the rest go to semis.
ScholaOsloensis
Btw, Weissenbacher lucky as hell he didn't go over the first rail (think it was the first).., both runs he clipped it on the way up, like Horgmo did when he broke his collar bone. First heat sees Sandbech, Piiroinen, Toutant and Nicholls through.

Olympic Fan Darcy
Didn't work unfortunately. Channel 10 is airing the Ladies slopestyle qualifying tonight for Torah Bright. Maybe they'll show some footage from the mens.

Team USA
Sure I'll be honest I not a big fan of Resse but her Oscar Performance of Walk The Line was amazing. She made the character likable and played her well
SkiFreak
The 11 hour difference between Sochi and Calgary bugs me. Have to head to bed. Gonna watch the recaps tomorrow.

She made the character likable and played her well mine's still election (1999) but i deem your answer acceptable. i think of it kind of like mary astor's the great lie (1941) to her maltese falcon (also 1941). she won the oscar for the former, but the latter is all anyone remembers her for now that she's dead. JMarkSnow2012
Someone just told the OBS commentator that everything he has been saying is wrong. Top 4 qualify for final and the rest go to semis. I think that's more-or-less what the OBS commentator had been saying at the beginning. Looks like the rules are about as ready as the hotels. ScholaOsloensis
right topic: Krow. yea. My hair is just average. --- So I've been up all night and watched a freaking qualification event, and it was pretty great. Maxence is taking this easily. 4gamesandcounting
Iceberg looks pretty empty to me, it's pre opening so I'm giving the benefit of the doubt, let's see how full everything is on Saturday and Sunday.
4gamesandcounting
I take it back - finally a shot of the top tier which actually looks full, funnily it doesn't look full from the ringside shots I think it's because of the hand rails due to the steep rake. Bottom level looks less full - the usual story about early events not having full take up from olympic family?
Tony E Loves Architecture
In my personal view, I think it's a silly idea to have events a day before the Opening Ceremony. The whole point of the OPENING Ceremony is to open the Games, with events after. Just my view.

The whole point of the OPENING Ceremony is to open the Games, with events after. Just my view. It is weird, at least it feels weird. Don't know why they didn't do the opening ceremony earlier. But, they did have the cauldron fired up already... And someone do something about this 11 hour difference. Gonna be sleep deprived over the next two weeks. Didn't get to sleep last night until 3:00. Lucky for me, the time zone is not too bad for me. It starts at 16:14 here in London, England, only behind 4 hours from Russia.
Faster
They do it in the Summer Games, its gonna be what it is. Especially with the 5 run format of some of the freestyle events now, this is what is going to happen.

Bottom level looks less full - the usual story about early events not having full take up from olympic family? There does seem to be one block of the lower tier, on the left side, which is currently (19:10 UTC) almost empty- I wouldn't be surprised to find that that is an Olynpic Family area. It is weird, at least it feels weird. Don't know why they didn't do the opening ceremony earlier. But, they did have the cauldron fired up already... As for the pre-Opening events; I guess they offer the opportunity to make last-minute adjustments.
JMarkSnow2012
Whoops- I thought it was odd that they were skating after 11pm Sochi time- BBC Red Button is running a swift repeat of the afternoon's events, but I'm sure it didn't say "replay" when I started watching!
