intoronto 650
Fireworks are still going. Impressive. While they play the song from the nutcracker inside.
Olympic Fan Darcy 323
Apparently one of the most memorable moments was Bach raising discrimination and also paying out the leaders that didn't attend due to political reasons.

Tony E Loves Architecture 168
See where Sochi had added elements from previous OC, London 2012 was more original. Not being biased, honest.
Tatsh 58
I expected more effects, more emotion at the moment of the lighting.
krow 562
does anyone think it's physically possible for tony e to be unbiased when it comes to london?

ofan 696
Anyone with last minute guesses on the final torchbearer? My money is still on Tretiak. Well, I was right...

alphacarter 31
Back to sleep for me. Wonderful night shared with you all. Thanks everyone!
JMarkSnow2012 387
Note that, on returning to the stadium after the fireworks, the audience was shown leaving. Presumably they had little to see once the torch-bearers exited through the shed.
ofan 696
Fireworks are still going. 50% you forgot the women lol ;P But all the focus was on Tretiak. Little applause for the girl and I can't even name her.
emre 92
1 of the best ceremonies ever... simple elegant and full of culture.. love the swan lake part except the olympic rings failure, the show was amazing.. looks like a summer games rather thn winter ones. GJ MOTHER RUSSIA PS: i was expecting Putin will light the cauldron
PyroKinesis 61
Amazing opening.
Olympic Fan Darcy 323
Thoroughly enjoyed the opening. Not sure if I liked it better than London though. Both were amazing. Bach looks like he will be one interesting president.
JMarkSnow2012 387
Overall, apart from the cauldron lighting (and the regrettable failure of the fifth ring) I liked that a lot. Lessons had clearly been learned from recent OCs in terms of emotion and pacing, and Russia's great traditions of classical dancing and dance music really helped. But that cauldron lighting was a disappointment- I wonder if they were too much influenced by complaints about the lack of star-factor and triumphalism in 2012? eternalcobi 5
Links here Vivoir.com/watch/live/streaming/online/free Thank you very much...I just watched the second half the OC, but the openning half...miss'd it! At least I had a solution for my problem, just to get this DAMN CLOSE to the action!
Mau2010 5
The best Olympic winter ceremony I've ever seen, I'd give it a 9.5, it would have been a 10 if the 5th Olympic Ring didn't fail.
Universal 3
Thoroughly enjoyed the opening. Not sure if I liked it better than London though. Both were amazing. baron-pierreIV 1700
Good artistic portions -- War & Peace; the Soviet, Industrial & modernized revolutions were also great -- in many ways better than London's because there was some discipline and coordination in the choreography -- NOT just OK...you go this way; you go that -- and we'll try to pass the disarray as our own, unique 2012 blend of 'choreography.' The Russians know how to do crowd scenes. I'd say 8/10 -- altho the lighting was terribly post-climatic. Easily a $45 million production. Still can't beat Salt Lake & Vancouver (which for me come in as #1 and a close #2) for Winter OCs. This should be #3. (I fear PyongChang will be dreadful.) Universal 3
Great looking Opening Ceremony but the stadium audience seemed a lot quieter as a whole than other OCs
