US athletes won the first ever modern summer & winter events. And then like when Beach VB was added in 1996, US won the men's in 1996 at least. Off the top of my head: Triathlon (which Sydney pushed for because we thought it would be a good chance for home gold) went to Switzerland and Canada in its 2000 debut. Judo in 1964 I know Holland's Geesink won one of the categories but not sure if was the first awarded/decided or not. i don't think no. 20 should count like that, since neither kim yu na nor mao asada won gold. so technically anyone who said kim can claim a victory since she placed higher.
